For my application I wanted to eliminate the engine compartment wiring so that was one of the reasons I went with a 1 wire alternator and also the factory ones don't produce enough at idle for the added needs of a race car or even a good street/strip car in my opinion and is just one of the many many things that need to be upgraded when you take one of these cars to that type level.
