I recently bought a front end rebuild kit from Andersen Restorations (a-resto-parts.com), and I think they are deserving of a nice review.

This is the second kit I've gotten from them; the first one was for the Scamp (also a great buying experience). The kit I bought recently was the 70-74 Barracuda front end suspension master rebuild kit, and it was less than $300. It was shipped quickly and the parts seem to be of good quality.

Upon assembly, I found that the tapered hole in one of the lower ball joints that receives the tie rod end was too small. I do understand that these are snug fits, but the hole in question was over .030" too small and not even one thread of the tie rod end would show through. Clearly a manufacturing error.

I reached out via email and got a response within minutes. Their representative was friendly and apologetic, and asked for some pictures so he could make sure he sent out the correct part. This was late on a Friday afternoon, and first thing the following Monday, I got an email from him saying that the part was shipped and provided a tracking number, no charge to me. He thanked me for telling them about my problem. I'll say it again -- he THANKED me for telling them about my problem. He also mentioned that he inspected the part personally to make sure the hole was within spec.

A couple days later, the ball joint showed up in the mail. The bag that the part was in had been cut open at the end where the tie rod goes - proof that he had in fact inspected the hole.

I just wanted to show my support for these guys, because too often we only voice our complaints instead of compliments, and I'll be the first to say I'm guilty of that. Great customer service deserves recognition.

Righty, can you tell what brand ball joints they are? Any ID of any kind? Can you tell how much is made in the USA? I know it is hard to find parts made here but I still try to find them.

I’ll take a closer look tomorrow when I’m back at the shop. Honestly, I would be surprised if any of the parts were US made, but stranger things have happened.
