So I've been trying for a couple months to get head gaskets with no luck. Lots of ups and downs. I finally settled on a pair of SCE Spartans. They are .009" thicker than I wanted. Not a big deal other than they are not what I wanted lol. About a week after I get them I get a price alert email from Jegs. They have 2 of the exact gasket I was after for just under 54 bucks a piece. At that price I had to have them. Before getting one out of the plastic I see it's scratched up. I guess I'll be running the SCE'S this year.

Personally I would use that and not think twice about it.

That is not serious.
But, good observation. Clean it up and the embossing, I feel, will make the seal.
If there is concern, and depending on your assembly practices, a layer of copper coat would provide better sealing.
It is a shame with parts shortage, that people have to “settle”. -
Ask my wife about it. - second thought. no. Don’t.

To be honest, I agree with the comments above. Just a light spray of Hylomar blue on that area and use them. If it can be used on copper gaskets then it can be used on yours.
What annoys me is that parts are not inspected before they are shipped.

Or the two gaskets that Jegs had were returns for that reason.

Yep that's what I'm gonna do. I overreacted. Thanks guys

Damaged new parts always gives me the *****!!

Yep me too. I instantly had a bad attitude about it. I looked at when I got home from work and kinda laughed to myself. I hadn't thought about folks resusing these with hylomar or copper spray. You know the coating isn't intact when they do that.

I’ve reused/torqued the cometic head gaskets on my hemi 3 different times now they are still sealing fine Yes they have been ran also

When Mopar went to MLS head gaskets on the neon, they called out to be coated with a sealant spray goo. Does Cometic not require that?

No they don’t recommend any sealant to be applied to their gasket

Yep I'll use them. I just overreacted. They may be returns but those scratches were not visible in the packaging and they were unopened so I don't know. Early April I ordered this particular size from jegs through Amazon. Amazon canceled my order after the delivery date had been changed a couple times. They labeled them unavailable. I wonder if this set is what I ordered from Amazon? Not likely but they did only have 2 in stock and at a discounted price. I'm just happy to have what I've been planning to use for so long now. Theres light at the end of the tunnel.

Unfortunately, due to rising energy costs, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.:(

You are actually seeing the evening freight to Denver.
