I’ve seen many threads on this but not a common answer. One was part number 5388580 from Hurst, but they don’t seem to be available at this time. Should I wait for it to come back into stock or go with something that gives a better fit? Brewer’s site says it is out of stock too.

If you are using the factory 65 Barracuda floor plate you can't get a boot for the pistol grip shifter. I did put 2 boots together to make it work but looked like crap so I went back to the original shifter.
The shifter I had is listed in this link. I did have to oval the lower hole to tilt the shifter backwards slightly.

I was told you're looking for a B body non-console shifter. Definitely NOT an E-body pistol grip unless you have extremely long arms LOL

If you have the time and tools you could make one and not spend $300. plus. Not exactly like a manufactured one but close.

OK, I did it today. I threaded the 3/8” holes I drilled in the adapter. The holes on the shifter aligned well, but I got the holes on the handle side off by about 1/32”, so the 3/8” bolt did not line up properly. So I used a 5/16” bolt and nut on one of these holes. I will replace it with a grade 8 5/16” bolt before trying to drive it, so I can torque it down tightly. FYI, this is the 1970 and up B body long shifter.
