Hurricane Season is about to start

Hurricane season is always a bust compared to what the media tries to scare everybody with. There've been some monster storms for sure, but never as many as the media predicts.

Yea in my experience it's an inconvenience more than anything and yea the media whips it up.
I HOPE that's what we have this year. We don't need anymore bad stuff to happen to people or for politicians to grab hold of the latest crisis over.

All I know, is if one rolls up the mouth of Tampa Bay, I'm glad I'm out towards Zephyrhills! Cause it will be a Shitty Deal!

I just got rid of the blue FEMA tarp 3 weeks ago and have a real roof again.
We waited till I could do a class 4 roof.
We have had Dade County classed shutters since 2008 or so. Spent 140k on mitigation and was worth it. Still have more work inside to finish.

Machinest dropped off the 422 to me. It was done and $8500 to build and was messed up. So had to be gone through after not even being run ever.
Had no power for 14 days. Heavy Wind for us was over 12 hours long.
Rode out Katrina and Ida both wild rides. IDA was very high wind for an extended time.

Yup. Never fails, as soon as a dust storm blows off of Africa the media draws a line right at Florida. And people grab their cans and head down to the gas station. Well maybe not this year. LOL

Just checked NOAA. Hurricane Agatha has just developed in the eastern Pacific across from the area of new development slated for midweek in the Gulf and Caribbean. Interesting to watch.

Gulf temps are around 80 to 82 F right now.

The big one that hit the northeast was in 1938. I think 600 people died. Tremendous tree damage. Railroad beds washed out. Houses floating in Long Island Sound. Concrete sections where houses used to be. And no warning till it was too late. There is a program on CPTV about the hurricane like once a year.

He talks about Dade County so I would assume Miami area.
Nope next parish over from Orleans Parish (New Orleans)
Just ,FYI lots of stuff must meet Dade County Specs. Outside of FL.
Just a,standard.

I live in South Carolina 15 miles from the ocean, close to the Georgia border, we have been lucky the last few years, a couple scares but nothing major.

Kevin....did anybody else in your neighborhood raise their house like you did? I remember lookin at the pictures on Moparts, of how they raised your house up and just sitting there with my mouth hung open seeing how something like that could be done! I hope it will always be high enough to keep you dry.

So true. And if there are more hurricanes than predicted, they will blame it on global warming.
And if there are less hurricanes than predicted, they will blame it on global warming.

Correct!

They need people to think fires, hurricane etc.. Is cause of global warming cause who's gonna be scared that temp has gone up a degree and a few inches of ocean rise, is all they really have.
