Well I guess it was better that a day not racing or having to work but the Keystone memorial race didn’t go well for me. We honored somewhere around 76 racers, fans, crew members, track owners, and sponsors that passed away over the years so that was real nice. Race delayed our start so it was a one time trial day which usually is fine with me but I have an issue with my car pulling hard right. I aborted my time trial and ran a 6.33. So going off my 330 foot time I dialed a 6.13 and ran a 6.13 but with my head on how the car was launching cut a bad light. I bought back in and it pulled left again so I got out of it, corrected it and ran a 6.22 so my day was over. I also bent my drivers side header unloading the car so instead of leaving it in the trailer and getting the motorhome ready for next weekends three 20,000.00 races I’m not sure I’m even going to make the trip now. Plans were to leave very early Thursday morning. I already paid 200.00 so it would be 295.00 more plus the entry money for Thursday’s test n tune and gamblers race. Plus’s 15 gallons of generator gas and 360 miles of gas for the motorhome. Hmmm.

Dang man. I'm sorry about that. The gas prices sure aren't helpin either.

What do they say? A bad day fishing is better than a good day working. Interject your own verb.

2:40 and I’m sore and tired and can’t sleep so it’s back out of bed for some hot soup. Brains working overtime and I know something that needs checked. When I put the 14-32 slicks on this car I have to jack it up and put jackstands under the frame and drop the axle so the slicks without air can be pushed into the wheel wells. Well I’m thinking with me pushing and the up and down of the axle either the shocks all slanted or the ladder bars are cocked. Something is bound up I’m thinking. After church I’ll cut the grass and unload the car and check things over and then jump on fixing the header.

Prayers and best wishes sent. You're an old warrior, and there ain't much quit in you. Keep fighting. I've been watching you from the left coast for awhile. You're one of the best flying the Mopar flag. Kudos, Sir.

John, is the car with the new slicks? I'm guessing you checked the rollout? You'll get it worked out.

Yes sir they were within 1/16 or less. I bought these slicks early last year before I got sick and kept them in my house basement till last week with so much tire I do a short tire heat in the water and come out hard. When I loaded last night usually I drag the gravel in the trailer that keystone has coming of our asphalt pad. No gravel at all last night so I will be giving them a good hard tire smoking burnout next time. But that isn’t my pulling left issue. I think it’s a binding issue. My buddy had an issue to as we had lots of rain going into the race and even delayed the start over three hours. This was our memorial race to honor friends and racers that died and we had a parade to honor 67. My sixty foot was still 1.32 so not to bad.

Well what did they say sometimes when you're a bear hunter, sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you sounds like there's a big fat bear taking a nap right now.. good luck on that binding issue that could get real scary.

Sorry about the bad day. But I had a similar issue after putting on new slicks on the Demon I use to own. Turns out it was the lower ball joint was bad. But come to think of it after I replaced the ball joint ,John Holt aligned and scaled the car drove straight as a arrow after that.
Good luck if you go next weekend

We I went to Church, stopped for a burger and fries at Dairy Queen to go, ate, took a hour and 25 minute nap, cut an acre of grass, inspected the rear end of the Duster in the trailer, unloaded it and got it in the shop, and parked the trailer. I’ll jump on the header tomorrow and see how much damage I did to it and start the repairs, then I can did deeper into the rear of the car and check my front alignment. All in all a productive day. Have a great Memorial Day guys. Thanks to all that have served and are serving today.

From an old former Marine, I thank you for flying the Mopar flag! I've been a bit of a lurker following you in your exploits. Keep at it, sir. And thank you for going to church.

Well I got my header fixed and the rearend looks good and all aligned. Then I moved to the frontend and wasn’t so lucky. Passenger side had to much play so I checked all the bolts and they were fine. So I climbed under the car and watched the rack as I moved the tire. It’s in my Flaming River rack and pinion so I cut the clamps on the boots and when I pushed the boot off pieces started falling on my face. My one buddy is good with this stuff so I will try to call him after the holiday. I may be making a quick trip to Summit tomorrow. I assume these center everything up in the tube because she’s sure flopping around

Well guys thanks to Mopar racers and member Jay Waxler and Lonnie Smith for some technical support last night I rounded up some parts and made up a temporary fix to tighten up my steering. All loaded up and going to start washing up my motorhome.

In this heat get a head start on it. I got half of my motorhome done tonight and what a mess. I never touched it last year so I’m paying for it now. I ordered a case of awesome that was delivered to my local store so I picked it up today. Lots of running tomorrow
