Like the thread title states--I am trying to slap together a decent 450hp 360 based off of a 5.9 Magnum I have here. This build is a stop gap build just to get my truck up and moving. Looking for some SCAT I-beams--NADA ZILCH anywhere... Ok so I want to use a hydraulic roller cam and try some "things" with the lifters. I want something decent with somewhere between 230-246 @ .050" duration-decent lobe lift and at this point I don't care about the LSA. I have searched ALL my vendors and the only stock is hydraulic flat junk, or really mild basically stock hydraulic rollers. So I check Summit--same deal, check E-Bag same , Call Hughes and ask Glenn I believe his name was , asked him right away what cams he had in stock for small block--he says ZERO and have 100+ on B.O. Goes on to tell me that their supplier hasn't had cam cores since November and they don't have a clue when the next order will come in--great! As a side note I called Mahle for a set of SBC pistons--nothing special and was told 16 week wait!! I thank the good lord for such a good job--I'd be homeless by now if I had to rely on this thankless trade for my main income. So does anyone have a used or unused cam sitting on their shelf for sale? Good rods? EQ heads with LA bolt pattern? I have everything else to get this project off the ground and would like to create a thread considering I am dying to use my TR and modded carbs. If the camshaft was hairy enough I might even target 500HP. Our evil overlords have done such a fine job of crushing the economy and marching us towards complete enslavement. I really enjoy paying 2X, 3X even 4X for just about everything while.... Sorry for getting off topic. Just need a few parts. J.Rob

Your topic is all of our topics brother. Hope you find your needs.

I just call up Ken Heard at Oregon Cam Grinders and he grinds me one right up. Also Delta Cam supposedly has a lot of cores too.

I'm partial to Bullet Race cams myself. They always take care of me. They got within 2hp of my target on my last build. You'll spend more $$, but you'll get an excellent product.

Call Mark ×104 or Chris ×105 and they'll hook you up.

Thanks, I emailed Bullet since they are not open right now. We will see, I am doubtful. J.Rob

Yep, just read a thread on YB about shops closing their doors due to waiting for parts. I am blessed with foresight and have been accepting--machine only jobs where the customer supplies the parts for about a year now. Still it is getting tough making the payments. J.Rob

Sorry to hear of your troubles , unfortunately all govs don't seem to give a crap . wish I could help

Off topic some but I have a couple big block billet 286@.050 with .750 lift cams let over from the 80’s. Can they be used as cores and are they worth anything.

My last 2 cams were Engle custom ground solids with a tight lash.
Last one was made 6 months ago as a spare. Have no idea what's out there now.
The guy I was dealing with there used to work at Comp Cams who recomended what to use.
He was telling me long ago that it was going to be shortages after Crane was no more since thet made lots of others cores.
Good luck with your build

My last cam installed a about 6 to 8 months ago. Is the mopar 292 purple shaft. Bought off of ebay like 2 years prior. New in box. Works like a charm.

My machinest had a few Howard's Cams for customers and spoke well of them.
He could not get rings for my 4.100 bore stroker (422.48ci)
We used Speed Pro File Fits last time. He used Total Seal as all he could get.
Nothing wrong with them thet are also great rings just slim pickings on everything.

i could offer this one to you. Shipping would be expensive (im in germany) i think, can check it out.

It's been 6 months or more by now, but my machinist got me a SBM hydraulic roller from Bullet Cams. It was a Magnum blank, so I just bought the snout extender from Hughes so I can run a fuel pump eccentric for a standard LA mechanical fuel pump.
I was hearing the same story about no blanks to grind on from everywhere I called 6 months ago, but Ben got mine on the way from Bullet with one call. Good luck to you....the current situation sucks! :BangHead:

Ken had some billet LA hydraulic roller cores available when I talked to him but they were for larger lift applications of .390-.400 lobe lift.

No one has to work a shitty foundry job, just so we can get our "hobby" parts. That's just how life is..

I ordered a cam from Lunati about 3 months ago for a 5.9 Magnum build I'm doing. I can't even get them to give me a ballpark as to when they think I'll get it. It's a shame. I got pistons, rings, heads, etc, etc within a pretty reasonable time frame. All I'm waiting for is the cam. I'm just assuming it's going to end up being next year before I get it. Thank goodness the 273 runs so nice.

I emailed lunati about a cam I have...
Crickets. If you put 1.6 on it..I'd be .588/.59.

Otherwise I have like three or four solid cams/solid roller and 2 hyd roller and 2 hyd flat. Used to be good lifters you cant find.

I ordered 2 sets of rods through our local shop before Christmas…I will check today and see if they showed up…if they did I can send you one set…

I waited 7 months for a howards cam and finally gave up. This was last Sept. Though. Called Herbert cams and had my solid roller in a week. He had cores at this time.
