Quick question on the small block trickflow heads.
Are the header bolts on 1,7,2&8 protruding into a water jacket?

No. At least that’s what I remember from a few years back when I installed the wife’s.
 
Small block or big block? I have some RB ones here I can look at.
 
I think the best thing to do is check your individual heads.

That's the only true way to know.
Having been in manufacturing for going on 20 years, I see lots of parts change over time and sometimes there's little ryhme or reason behind the changes.
Always confirm when comparing.
