My wife HATES my car.

I agree, I had a good one for 21 years that lost her life in 1993 at 39 years old. I have dated several through the last 28 years and said I would never remarry but I met one a couple of years ago that is different from the rest. It didn't take long to know that this is the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. We have set a date in Oct, Joe
Congrats!!!!!!

I was talking to a friend about this thread, it kinda hits home with him in a weird way. Too long of a story to tell, but I’ll quote one thing he said that made me laugh really damn hard. “My wife is fine with my car addiction, what she hated was my girlfriend”.

When you meet them they think its cool that you are active and have interest . But after a few years they want you to focus on them . What have you done for me lately ? Tell me 5 nice things about me ... My money is mine and your money is mine ...etc...

I understand that not all women are like this but the ones that arent are taken and in a good relationships.
Maybe I should keep an eye on the Obits ? Lol

Sometimes you gotta lower your standards to raise your average.. funeral crashing worked on wedding crashers..they claim theres nothing hornier than a mourning widow :usflag:

You sell that car for her and your resentments will reach a boiling point...it will then never last & you'll have to buy another car, it's time to put your foot down creatively I suppose if you care about both, it will be worth your time.

I'm going to put another seat in my car when it's finished, take her for 1 ride, hopefully she gets herself a bug and wants 1 for herself. That would be ultimate bad ***, if I can turn my wife into a drag racer.

^^^mine to and orange is my favorite color.. but i dont even own an orange one
Yeah, my wife is offended that I wanna paint my hemi orange....but I'm a red head, I don't get it

Sorry to hear... can't help ya. Married 40 years in another Month, dating for 43... we got married in my '69 Bee, not much has changed! lol

Too many of us equate sex with love. Nothing could further from the truth. True love is the goal, Biblical partners in everything, is the very best.

People fall into "lust", not love..... I personally don't know what that's like. And will ride out into the sunset not know and that's OK. If you figured out the love and not lust equation you have a solid life partner.... It means you both pull the Wagon in the same direction.....

As for the OP, I have seen this work or maybe even tolerated at best. I personally have never met a woman who didn't enjoy being around an older car at some level. Maybe you can figure out a part of your hobby that would flip her trigger.... Just thinking out loud for you....

Back in the 70's my 1969 Charger R/T was a chick magnet. I really didn't have to put much into picking up a girl. The Charger did most of the work.

So lets talk about men who have modest incomes but spend big money on the car hobby
They like to say they provide a home and meals for their families first as a justification for spending money on a hobby car.
Im from a different mind source, my wife and I have done without for the majority of our soon to be 48 year marriage
Id buy that woman clothes for Christmas as all she had was hand me downs and then never see her wear them
After awhile I discovered she was returning them and using the money for the kids
I put every nickel and dime into my kids, education braces, weddings, after that it was fixing the home up.
When we finally saw the day of light financially and had some breathing room, we found out she has a incurable cancer, that was almost 12 years ago
Ive cared for her every day since and awhile back I spent 4 grand to buy a beat to **** 69 Plymouth convertible. At that point the money I made at my second job funded my hobby
She is supportive of what I do and even encouraged me to buy the old CJ2A jeep have now as a second project
She knew from the day we met I was into cars and she respected I waited 35 years to get back into cars
So the bottom line is this.
Some of us are well off and God Bless if your are. Those guys can afford hobby cars at a younger age
Some of us are just working guys

Pick a woman who has her feet on the ground, one you can trust without a shed of doubt
One who will be a good mother and a good partner.
Have you're priories in order
I see to many guys who work one job, make ok not great money
They have all the toy's. A hobby car, the guns take hunting and fishing trip. Maybe a boat
There kids and wife dress like ****, their homes are run down. The kids need braces they never get
The list goes on and on
They think because they provide food and shelter they met their obligations
I have zero use them and when their kids get older and their wife finally gets fed up and divorces them, takes them to the cleaners. Good for her

Steve you have it down my friend. That is what is all about. My family always came first over some stupid car and still do. Would sell off all of my crap in a heartbeat to help my children. Probably won't have to though. I raised them to work hard and sent them to college. They all have great jobs making good money. In the over all big picture they are just cars. When raising my kids I drove a beater 64 El Camino that I had no money in. Drove it for years on seven cylinders with a bad cam cause would rather spend the money on my family.
Later in life with the kids all grown up and out on their own and myself single, again, I was able to finally afford muscle cars again.

Since the 80's my car hobby has always had to pay its way. I could never put $ in my hobby car and sell at a loss. Never could afford such. Nor have I wanted to spend $$ and just say, well its my hobby and hobbies always cost $$$$. I have built many and never got a nickel for my labor though!
I enjoy everything about the car hobby but like said, cars are just another material thing. In the scope of life, most everything else is way, way more important. Everything is life is relative.
That said,I can not justify living a life with someone that is intent on making my life miserable. Life is too short for such.

I don't who you voted for, your right or left, your a man I can respect
Isn't it a great feeling when the kids become adults and have good jobs, do good in life.
Its like the fruits of your labor
My youngest is a free spirit type, does his own thing. Actually the smartest of the three but the least financially successful
He's now 42 and just recently I got the shock of the year.....He got a part time job in addition to his full time job
Seems he wants to buy a condo. About time id say

Ya I've screwed up things and can be a dumbass but being a good father is the one I got right for the most part. Does make me proud that my children are even better parents then I was.

I've had it for about 15 years and she's only been in it once when I first got it. She complained about the fumes and hasn't been in it since. I hadn't fixed the trunk gasket yet. Anyways, anytime I have a problem with it she says "sell the damn thing"!

At this point in time if she gave me the ultimatum about the car or her I think I'd choose the car. lol.
Hey women have plenty of funky fumes and cost to much money but old cars are more rare look better with age, there will always be more younger women around.
