1972 Dodge Colt

I was wondering, going from a hemi to a lighter motor, will you need to have the car put on scales to rebalance it?
Thinking about something similar with an Arrow.

If you’re serious about being competitive absolutely yes rescale it.

Yes, I need to scale it.
I should be able to get three weights at the track in a couple of weeks.
Front, full and rear.
I wish I had a set of 4 scales.

What record are you thinking about?
I'm asking for a friend.

I thought I answered your question, but I don't see the reply.
Tell your friend to look at this chart:

With some luck and HP, perhaps I can set one of these.
Of course this does not include retired records.

I removed 90+ lbs. of lead from under the fuel cell.
I have no idea what the Colt currently weighs.

Thanks Will-meister.
Cooling check run.
Idled for about 5 minutes before this Video.
Never got over 180, and it's high 90's in Texas today.

Got Deb to run the Video.
Nice shot of my hindquarters.

which would be quicker: a C2 Colt or a Hyper-Pac version IF they were built that way from the factory?
I'd take an orange wagon with Hyper-Pac,5-speed and 4.30 8-3/4 please. (with black interior,no A/C or radio)

What is a C2 Colt?
I tried the HP intake on this 225, won't fit without a hood scoop.
Hood scoop is a non starter, "no scoop for you!"
Wagons are cool, not many made into race cars.
The Rod Shop wagon and this Cricket Wagon!

C2 was Dodge's/Mitsubishi's hot rod parts for the OE Colt. Kinda like MP parts for US cars. I believe SS&DI campaigned some version of the Colt in a drag class.
Forgot about the Crickets. Our first cat when we were married was Cricket...I don't think that would be a reason to get one. IF you could even find one.

Never seen a SSDI Colt, that would be cool.
I have seen a SRT swapped Colt.
Loaded the Colt today to work out straps and trailer CG.
Good news, It Fits!

Still working on the trailer.
Got the winch wired, that will help.
Added 2 tie-downs to the rear in line with the axle tubes.
Had to come way in-board to clear the tires and get a clear shot.
Still have to mount the spare, the floor jack, jack stands and air tank.

The rear slicks are off to take for balancing next week.
I have to correct 1 brake line fitting and seal the front CS in the 4 speed.
It drips a drop a week of red line oil and that bothers me.

I picked up my Weber carb bodies from vapor blasting.
Going to get them back together in my spare time.

Fixed the rear brake interference issue today.
New steel brake line, reversed the AN Fitting and a new 3 inch longer braided hose.
It's close on the on the track bar locator, but it's clear.

Sounds great.

Fixed the trans today and re-installed the box.
The front retainer seal was missing the spring?
Missed that when I put it together.
Added some permatex on the countershaft where it rests in the front.

Started the Colt today just for a final check.
Everything was looking good, so I drained the radiator and block.
I will refill with some fresh distilled water and a water treatment.
Looking like this Sunday at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris will be next.
Don't want to make any passes yet, just Tech and weight if I can.
A little driving around the pits and clutch, brake checks.
Just a good shake down before the first rubber burning.
Putting down all the data to document the starting point.

Yea, I'm a chicken.
Colt has not made a pass by anyone in 20 plus years.
Doesn't seem to smart to hang the front wheels in the air.... Yet!
Video next week.
Good or bad.
No, I think you're smart!
