What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Went to one of the local u-pull yards with my brother today. Picked up a 4 speed automatic transmission out of a '94 1500.
Future install project.

Yesterday our club had our annual Car-B-Q. The homeowner host counted a total of 40 cars (throughout the afternoon).

The "Golden Oldie" also met a new friend. Yup, Detroit's famous "Black Ghost" 1970, Hemi, 4-speed, gator grain top. The "Black Ghost" has also been recognized by the National Historic Vehicle Register. It’s one of 29 culturally significant vehicles whose history has been documented.

Made the 180 mile round trip yesterday to the Albion All mopar show without issues. Entered and took a first place trophy in the 1971 and older modified class.

Exhaust in... probably requiring some adjustments...Flowmaster 40 Delta flows. Cleaned everything to a shine.

Fresh wrap on the pipes

Rear shocks replaced. Stuck with Gas-A-Matics.

Long day but good to see the results.
Front end work tomorrow

Another long day... but 16 weeks after starting this effort, the disc conversion kit is installed!

Next up is booster/master cylinder and front brake lines... now that they have a termination point.

Fired up the '76 Truck after Winter storage, washed it up detailed few things and good to go. Went to the local Tuesday night Cruise-In last night.

After 12+ years of car in garage, I am close to having it on the road.

Latest thing was couldn't find kickdown linkage.
What to do?

I bought a Lokar setup that uses cables for kickdown and a "shelf" that fits under carb. It looks like it will absolutely serve my needs.
A little pricy, but I can't take it with me. (Money).

Cleaning up fallen tree branches and sticks from the Winter fall around the yard today.

Have been manicuring the yard like a golf course for the last 42 years. This year letting the grass grow, trimming it up around the edges and trees with the string trimmer, roudup the gravel yard, and that's it.

Going to save the diesel fuel, gasoline, and the effort this year, going to enjoy life.

High price of fuel? Here is a work-a-round that helps.

Drilling holes in the rubber to install the splash shield staples back in the proper location. Yup. Doing it on the kitchen table..

That was no fun. But it had to be done. All the staples are back in. No damage to the kitchen table either. :)

I'm fabricating some body caster stands so I can get the baby off the rotisserie (after a mere ....oh, 20 years or so). It seems like such a small step, but now I'll be able to point at it and show the next dumbass that asks me if I've done anything to it. It irritates the crap out of me when someone who doesn't know squat about what I'm putting into this takes a look and doesn't see a finished car, then says that it looks just the same as it did the last time he/she was here.:BangHead:

Well, here's the finished product. No closeups....I dont want to showcase the welding work.:(

Today was "take your fish to work day." Forgot to get a picture though!!:BangHead:

(I work out of my house and drove 50 miles round trip to one of the plants we clean). Pic next time!!

Didn't care for the exhaust clearance around the drive shaft and rear axle. Bent some new pipe and adjusted hanger positions. Much happier with it now

Washed the Dart up real good, first car show of the year tomorrow. It's in Keno, OR. About a 2-1/2 hour drive from my place. This will be the furthest I've driven my Dart in the 20 years I've owned it.

I got everything back together last week, so I pulled the car out and gave it a bath. Supposed to be going to a car show tomorrow but it looks like it will be rained out. I may go for a short cruise this afternoon.

Car show at the West Plains Civic Center. Great show, sunny weather (sticky humidity though). There was a beautiful "restified" Hemi Roadrunner that was the only other Mopar at the show... I saw more Studebakers than Mopars! And a (recent) Mini with a smallblock, rear-drive transplant.
On the way home I stopped for gas (got 11.2 mpg on the last fill-up, a new record!) and a young guy asked me if my '72 Dodge Dart was "a Mustang". Sigh. At least he said he liked the car
