So I have an A518 2wd transmission out of a 96 Ram 1500. I hadn't originally planned on doing anything with it but now I think I'd like to use it. My question is who makes a manual linkage to replace the computer based linkage

The actual shift linkage is mechanical, just like the 727. And a 96 is probably a 46re which is a electronically shifted trans, the 46rh would be hydraulically shifted just like the older transmissions

So is there a company that makes a kit 46re to work just like a 727 etc. I was hoping to use it in a higher end figure 8 car just because I had no other use for it

If your trans is from a 96 it is a 46re which needs a computer to handle the shifts. You need a 46rh which is from 90-95 models to build.

46re will have an 8 pin plug in for the computer control. 46rh will either have a 2 or 3 pin plug depending upon whether or not it has a lock up converter.

There is no kit to change the 46re to shift without the computer.

Sorry for the bad news.
