I have a 67 Formula S with Kelsey Hayes front disc brakes (sbp). Was told that a 14 x 6 Ralley wheel with a 4" backspace would fit. It does not. I've read replacing front studs with longer ones and adding a wheel spacer is a way to fit the wheel and I also read grinding down the caliper. In the future I may replace the brakes, but looking for a fix that will mount my new wheels. Thanks!

What doesn't fit?

The stock SBP rally wheels were only made in 14x5.5 wide, If you have 14x6 they are aftermarket.

A lot of people don't realize you are supposed to measure them at the bead, not the outside of the flange. So it's often ambiguous what the actual size is. That said, 4" backspace is definitely not an OEM rim. They should be around 3.5–3.75, IIRC. My OEM rally wheels fit fine with the OEM K-H calipers.

Personally, I would not run a spacer. But that would be better than grinding down the caliper, which sounds dicey. How much are we talking about grinding? They are hefty for a reason.

I am kind of surprised that Year One would offer that much backspacing on the 14" size. It would only fit drum brake cars, seems to me. But a lot of 14 x 6 mag wheels are the same — they don't clear the calipers.

When I have contemplated buying wider aftermarket rims, I have always looked at 15" sizes for this reason. But I never followed through because I realized that I couldn't fit any wider tire in front, regardless — the front corner of the fender is the limiting factor.

Yeah man. My 14x5.5 wheels absolutely fit with the Kelseyville hayes brakes. Really sounds like a back spacing problem.

I would return them to year one, especially if they claim to fit front disk,
