I've got this nice big ol' space right above my D60 where I'm thinking about mounting a remote transmission cooler. Does anyone forsee any issues with this location? The exhaust will be dumped in-front of the rear tires.

* Car will be Street/Strip driven. I am not mounting it in-front of the radiator because that space is reserved for something in the near future :)

I have the twin fan version of that mounted under the rear seat area on the drivers side and it works great.

You are going to get a lot cooler air at the front of the car.

Everything radiates heat going to the back:
Radiator, engine block, headers or manifolds, dual exhaust pipe, mufflers transmission housing and pan, rear end chunk . . heat rises.

It has a fan on it and to the second part......SERIOUSLY?????? WOW!!!!!!

I've got mine in the same area, freed up room in the nose and airflow seems to be decent as the fan only turns on occasionally. I have a trans temp gauge I need to install still to validate that.

Thanks guys. I'm going to give it a shot. The more I'm looking at it, even at full squat, the axle shouldn't make contact with the fan. That was my biggest concern.

I appreciate the help

Just make sure the Exhaust is far away! otherwise it is a total loss and failure waiting to happen!

Any pics of your install? What material of lines did you use? Mine just arrived and I will plan the install this weekend.

For sure! Please see below.

This particular fan unit came with 6an. I use all Earl's AN hose and their fittings. With the subframe connectors, there was no clear path for the hoses to get to the rear without looping them above the trans crossmember. I didnt like that technique, so I bought some frame pass-through fittings and now they go through the crossmember brace. The photo below are my fuel pass-through fittings, but the concept is the same. Tough to get a good photo right now without lifting the car up

Hope this helps

Thank you for the pics. Looks great. Now. I will have to get under and plan the route for the lines and order lines and fittings.

I installed a couple of those back in the early 90's in my dealership days, they worked good.

It's been 30 years and my memory is not that good, but I believe the ones I installed were on new trucks that were supposed to be equipped with auxiliary coolers, but weren't.

It was a TSB on A/T equipped Cummins models around 1990 first . Then they started installing them during production . I remember when the TSB came out .

See post #12. Dodger did it to millions of trucks. It's a good location, imo. No brainer.
