lock out of dart

In addition to the info in the "How to" section this additional info will help you with a keyed lock.......

Here are the steps when dealing with a keyed lock:

1) Close the latch, and lock it with the key.
2) Remove the key
3) Access the silver pin through the access hole as per the thread and depress it.
4) Pull the silver glove box knob outward with the pin depressed. It will only pull out a little bit with the key removed, but enough for the silver pin to clear the shoulder of the tube.
5) With the silver pin outside of the tube, Replace the key into the lock. This will cause all of the brass lock tumblers to depress allowing you to pull the complete assembly the rest of the way out of the tube.

**Note**

1) If the lock is NOT in the locked position, the silver pin does not line up with the access hole.
2) If the key is in, the silver pin CANNOT be depressed to clear the shoulder.
3) If the key is out, the brass lock tumblers will NOT clear the shoulder of the tube

Stick trunk key (any key) in and file the tumblers still sticking up flush with the barrel. That will give you the clearance needed to remove it past the shoulder, and makes it your new key.

Or bring the whole shootin' match to a locksmith who may have a better idea.

I had a Duster w/ shaved door handles.. locked myself out. Local guy came out, cut me 2 keys. 45 bucks. Done deal

I paid a $100 lock out for my roommate while we were at the beach. He was about to rotate out of the Marines and I told him he still owed me $100, so he gave me a flawless S&W Model 29 in .44Mag with the long barrel, 2 speed loaders and a set of grips in a Pelican case with 30 rounds. I think I got my moneys worth! Nowadays, an air jack in the passenger window frame and a long poker too hit the power lock button seems like to little work to pay $$ for. Ever notice they always enter through the passenger door? One guy told me thats so if they break something, you wont notice it until hes long gone.

Great deal

How did we get from the guy needing help getting his glovebox lock out to breaking into locked cars!?! LOL

Ha, that would have been me derailing this thread! I usually respond without reading all the posts, that would have kept me on point for sure.
