Hello to all, a Mopar newbie from Germany needs help
First of all I would like to introduce myself.
My name is Joerg and I live in the north of Germany.
I have until now restored an Olds 1972 Cultalss 455 and finished it now. My next project will be my first Mopar, a 1968 Formular S Barrracuda. And now I need help from someone because the previous owner has cut out the upper front shock towers (see pictures) what is the best way to weld them back in. As you can see i ordanized from a sampe model the missing peaces but of course the don't fit 100%.
Where I can get messurements from to weld them in the correct position ?

Best Regards Jörg

First off welcome!
Do you have a picture of the old piece not in the engine bay to where we could see what the previous owner was attempting to do? It may be where he was trying to do like a tubular arm upper and lower suspension... Generally this is a method for a much more adjustable modern feeling suspension.

Also you might want to look and see if coming from underneath the car that there wasn't something done to eliminate where the torsion bars go to...

You came to the right place.

Not me ( unfortunatly),but the guys on this sight have see it all! and they are excited to see these cars preserved.

Welcome aboard

One thing I have to note, we here in Germany have to keep the oldtimers in almost original condition i.e. we can't just install another suspension if we do that we don't get oldtimer approval, that's why I have to build back to say original but maybe optimized

welcome aboard! nice looking project to start with. what size are the rear tires on it?

It looks to have tubular upper control arms. We need better pictures of the suspension from under the front fenders.

:welcome: from :canada:
That looks like a pretty solid car from the pictures. I'm in agreement with the others that it appears the po has installed tubular upper control arms and possibly coilover front springs/shocks. More detailed pictures will help determine what has been modified.

Welcome aboard.

Some advise...

Photos, photos, photos.

As much background as possible.

And use drivers side and passanger side rather than left and right (assuming left hand drive)

In your first post the inner fender piece you have looks to be facing the wrong way.

What I am seeing is the inner fender panels / structure and the firewall have been modified. Holes filled, surfaces flatened.

Not necessarily a deal breaker but that leads me to wonder what else has been modified.

Here the only approval that counts is the person who's paying the bills... We have a saying that goes your money your car your way.... If you're away is getting old timer approval then it's your money and your car... LOL...
Seems to me someone went through a lot of effort money expense and work to get the car in a way that will handle much better..

Welcome to FABO and good luck on the project. Looks pretty nice to me, aside from the shock tower issue. AMD has inner fender replacements, but don't the other components you need.

Welcome!
My great, great, great grandparents were from Hannover.

Looks like the original shock towers were cut off so you could either remove whats left and start new or cut the replacement tower to fit. Make a pair of templates based on the uncut towers. If you're going to use the inner fenders from the scamp it would be easier to separate them from the shock tower/frame rail using a 3/8" Double Sided Rotary Spot Weld Cutter Remover Drill Bits, some use a mini sander.

Lenox Tools 1972920 METALMAX Diamond Edge Cutoff Wheel is the best bang for the buck.

As far as welding someone can chime in.

Engine side of the frame rail.

My goal is to make look like stock again,
using the parts which i have or I know the is a upper shock tower replacemnet part
from classi industries, question is how hard is it to install and how to match the richt messurements

Maybe this guy may be able to help you a little...

[FOR SALE] - 67-74 AMD A body inner fender panels pair new

If you need the inner fenders maybe another member will be willing to pick them up and ship them to you...

However the guy posting the ad who has the complete assembly may be able to get some measurements for you....
