Just got car back from ceramic coating

I'm not trying to poop on your party but that car looks "That Good" because of the PREP work.
Just keep that in mind if your going the D.I.Y Way.
I could not agree MORE with you. It is all about prep. Just like painting a car. I've been doing body and paint as a hobby for about 45 years. Take my 69 Barracuda, for example. I had at least 750-800 hours (probably closer to 1,000) in the prep for that paint job. It takes a long time to disassemble, strip paint, epoxy prime, cut out rust and fab/weld in patch panels, do body work, prime/block sand with guide coat/fix bad spots/prime again/block sand again. I bet I spent at least 50-60 hours block sanding primer. The actual spraying of F8 Green was maybe only 25 hours total. 800 or so prep hours and only 25 hours of painting.
Same way with a GOOD detailing job. A lot of people think a good wash and wax is detailing your car. It is not. When I detail a car, I hand was it, towel dry it, clay bar it, polish it with a good random orbital machine, wipe it clean with clean microfiber towels, then I apply the wax. It takes me a good 8-10 hours if I am just using wax. If I am using my Blackfire Ceramic treatment, It takes several hours longer, because the ceramic takes longer to apply, and there are two extra steps (treat car pith Blackfire Ceramic Prep and wipe entire car down with a quick detailer to kind of smoot things out and emphasize the amazing shine. So I agree TOTALLY with your comments. If you want to do a good job with a quality ceramic product, plan on it being a LOT of work and taking a long time. Plus the materials aren't cheap.
BTW, don't waste your money on the one step spray and wipe ceramic coating products.
