Interesting units. They use a 3 phase AC motor as the 'transmission'. its only a belt driven tub off a bi-directional motor so they dont need a complicated agitator transmission. Also the AC motor has a tach output that obviously monitors speed, ie it can be set to 5 different spin rates, off low med high and max. Now MAX is an interesting speed as the drum looks like its spinning at about 1600 RPM and the drum wheel in the back is about 12" wide while the motors drive is about 1" so that means the drum is being driven 1:12. so 12x1600 is 19200 motor RPM! Thats humming! These washers have fully suspended drums and even shock absorbers and weigh about 200 lbs to stay on the grount when they are spinning an out of balance load. "Delicate fabrics are not recommended to spin at max spin rates or damage can occur". Alsso the locking mechanism for the door is pretty slick. It used a "Wax motor" as a servo to move a fork past the nub on the door striker so you cannot open the door unless it mechanically releases. You may be asking what a was motor is? When you look at the door lock mechanism, all I saw was a small box that had a resistor symbol stamped on it. I thought it was a heater of some sort but did not realize what a heater would be doing on a lock mechanism. Turns out it uses the same principle as a cars thermostat: a wax pellet in a confined space will expand 5-15% when heated and contract same amount when cooled so you couple this to a sliding mechanism you get a VERY strong servo (up to 900 lbs) that operates slowly and controlled. That is why the lock takes a few seconds to release. I got a NICE matching stacker set for $200 and the guy said the washer doesn't spin and the dryer makes a noise. $200? You got a deal! I picked them up, took em home and turned them on. The dryer just had a squeaky bearing that I lubed and it quieted down. The washer had a few issues but nothing that cost me any money: the belt had come off the drive wheel somehow. Put it back on and didn't see any reason why it came off. It started to rotate the drum after that and I though I was in the clear. I ran the thing through a short cycle and water came gushing out the back right corner, WTF> I pulled the top off and found a rat had chewed a 1/2 hole in the rubber discharge hose elbow.

I was able to cut the elbow under the hole and then clamp the remaining stub to the plastic nipple, nothing but a pipe clamp! Ran the cycle again and the "door open" light came on and shut the cycle down. after I took the locking mechanism out (and found the "wax motor"), I pulled the switch apart and found the gushing water got the 2 contacts in the switch wet or shorted the leads or something but as soon as I dried them out, shot some WD in there and put them back into service, I got no more false "door open" triggers. So all in all, I feel I got a pretty good deal. I dont think the guy was aware of the rat chew as nothing in the cabinet had any rust on it. Probably happened during storage as the drum smelled pretty musty. Oh and a final warning: parts for these are $$$! The lock mechanism is $120 alone while the front door gasket is over $200! But they do use 1/3 the water, take 20% longer to wash and some say don't clean that well at all. But they do look nice.......with towels on top. Rockauto "International Scout" magnet came with it....Guy owned a $90K Hummer.

That's a good deal and even better that you could fix them up without expensive parts. I helped my son put bearings in his. Even after that repair he was into it for a few hundred. It was one of the high end Samsung's.

You have to leave the door open on the washer when not in use or it will start to smell.
Mold also
I aways leave the door on my front load washer open after using
I have Maytag's washer and dryer. Both good machines. Id never buy a top loader again. I never had a vibration problem, uses less water and cleans clothes great

I have a Maytag Neptune washer and drier that are 27 years old with less that 500.00 in repairs all to the washer because it was the first year that series came out.

You probably know this but these units are stackable.

Saves all important space for parts storage LOL !!

Pretty amazing, another example of how electronics are replacing about everything mechanical.

I went to put gas in my mower last week and the can started spitting gas out of the side of the spout.

Mouse chewed through the plastic.

I bet the mouse got a somewhat nasty surprise after getting through.

We have had ours for 10years. Samsung. We love them. About once every other month i run a cycle that is like a self cleaning mode to reduce mold etc. The thing that threw me off i had to run a water line to the dryer. I was like wtf lol. It has a mode to steam dry clothes and sterilize

Yup!

Washer on bottom, Dryer on top

That white bar on top of the washer shows circular recesses where feet of dryer fit in to secure it.

I removed the stacker base (double sided tape and goo gone)) as I don't have the room to stack! I got my stereo system over them now and dont want to relocate. And 2 more flat surfaces in the garage? Heck that's like 2 more work benches!

Anyone have experience with the single unit washer and dryer ?

Interesting unit. Probably does 2 things OK, but not one thing great. Apartment piece?

Uh... "shop garage and tools"....whats your garage have in it, a CAR??? Lucky...
We had a washing machine and a dryer in the power house, located conveniently in our locker room.......Very grateful the company provided that as coveralls and clothes got very dirty and greasy

A full size front loader washer and dryer are stackable?

Female friend let's me keep my 64 in her garage. Her old washer that came with the house quit and she wanted new ones. We went appliance shopping and I suggested we stack them and get new storage. These LG units are very large capacity and the dryer is HUGE. Notice one control knob is white and the other is aluminum, go figure. I did the install including rerouting gas, vent lines through attic to and roof, and demo and installing new cabinets and small countertop. Also doubled the outlets and converted to GFCI. She paid extra for installion but 2 dummies and a truck are not allowed to modify gas lines so they left. But that's OK because I do better work than "professionals" anyway. Of course you can download the LG app and control or monitor them with a phone. Just not a dial phone.
She is really happy with everything. And no this isn't California with washers, dryers and water heaters in the garage. Just a little 3 BR ranch with no basement.
Had to finish that before I got back to work on the Valiant.

Thse newer styles stack. Mine had a double sided tape plastic rail on the washer that the feet of the dryer fit in. These things shake though. Put the washer on the bottom! The spin rpm is up to 1800 rpm on the washer, enough to rip delicate clothes per the manual! They really hum and have a certain amount of vibration in there fully suspended baskets. Once you see the amount of water these washers need to wash is incredibly small compared to a top loader. I got my set for $200 and the next week I saw 2 sets for FREE locally when the owner just upgraded to newer models. Keep a look out for them, they are worth it.

Found mystery E70 trouble code. Its not listed in manual but its a cold water supply issue. I read up on the control valve and they tested ok so I looked at the strainer screens in the inlet fittings and the cold water one as FUBAR with a bunch of mineral deposits plugging the screen about 50%. You don't have to remove the inlet valve assembly (blue thing under the top cover, 2 screws) to clean the inlet screens, just use some needle nose pliers and gently pull out the 2 screen caps inside the inlet. They are tight but will come out if you work them side to side and pull on them evenly. Back flush them with compressed air or CLR and a pick if the nuggets are embedded and push back in. Mine flowed visibly better on COLD setting and the wife told me the warm setting was still rather hot when she took the clothes out so that should have been a red flag to me telling me the cold water supply was faulty.

The "better' model above this one looks to have 2 shock absorbers in addition to suspension springs.
