I need to clean up a windshield I removed so it can be put back in, trying to get off the black sealant, suggestions as for what is best to use? Thanks!

Some type of petroleum solvent. 3m makes a nice little quart can with a needle type tip on it. Adhesive remover it’s called.
Grease and wax remover, mineral spirits, enamel reducer.
Pick your poison. Lacquer thinner might me a little too strong and take the paint with it. Do a test area whatever you do.

3x on the sharp razor blade.
Then its 4 aught steel wool and dawn dish soap, water solution. Its the finest steel wool made, will not scratch the glass. Will remove everything in a quick hurry including road scum. I clean my glass windows once a year like this. Follow up with glass cleaner.

Thanks all, got it cleaned up with razor blade & acetone.

That is what I used as well, I saved the Rear glass but the windshield had already been replaced and was Brown tinted!

Fortunately all the side glass and rear was green tinted original and was good!

I dropped over to AMD just across lake Lanier from my home and picked up a fresh Green tinted windshield with correct markings!

Nice to be close to a few Mopar restoration parts warehouses!
