I need to replace the hoses on my 71 400 Duster. Rad inlet (top) is on the driver's side, outlet is on the passenger side. 22" radiator, long water pump inlet. No idea what hoses are on it, there are no numbers on them.

I've been looking at 70-71 cars and it looks like 340 hoses might work if trimmed, but can't be sure. The local parts stores don't have anything for old cars so I would have to order them. I'm skeptical that I'd be able to match up something usable because they don't have anything for old cars.

Does anyone know if the 340 hoses will work in my application? If not can anyone make a recommendation of what hoses fit other than a flex hose?

Thanks in advance.

When all else fails, maybe form a stiff wire such as a coat hanger to mimic the center line of the hose form you want/need. Match it up at the parts store.

Well, if you look at Be Cool radiators, they tell you the exact hoses to use. So i'd try that. Just make sure your inlet and outlet are on the same size as the Be Cool radiator you are referencing.

The other option is to ben a wire the way that you need it to be and go match it up at the parts store.

Another option is to buy flared aluminum radiator hose tubes from say Speedway or the like and make something up. I have found this option to work the best.

I don't see that on the BeCool website, and I don't see any downflow 22" radiators either so even if they did list a radiator hose, it wouldn't work.

Like I said, the parts stores here don't stock parts for old cars so I'm skeptical of finding anything that way. It would be easier to just take the old hoses in to try to match up anyway.

I'll look into that but I'd really rather have a simple rubber hose solution, and the price on those looks pretty steep to me.

I've searched the web and read a ton of posts but it seems like I'm the only person on Earth that runs a big block with a 22" radiator with a driver's side inlet.

The small block hoses look like they would work with some trimming.
FWIW I picked up some 340 hoses today. It looks like the ones that were on the car to begin with were cut down. Just confirming they'll work so if the question comes up again maybe it will help someone.

The upper hose is long enough for two cars.

I'm also adding a high volume milodon water pump, a matching 180* thermostat, a repop fan shroud, and water wetter. Hopefully that will help it run a little cooler. I eliminated the heater hoses while I had the system drained, so I can pull the fan motor and heater core out of the box to give some more room around the firewall.

LOL...I walked into Autozone and asked to see their hoses....conversation went like this:
AZ dude: What are ya looking for I can tell ya if we got it
Me: It's a 69 B'cuda
AZ: Yep my computer goes back then(starts typing)
Me: 383
Az: Yep(still typing)
Me:It's got a later style water pump housing and a Chevy style aluminum radiator
AZ: (stops typing) Here let me show you where the hoses are
Me: Yep...Thanks! lol
