I bought this car yesterday when I pulled the dipstick it was way over full and smelled like gas. This morning I thought I would try to get it started and see if the motor was any good
Thats when I noticed the fuel line. I got a good laugh out of this

Actually, gas in the oil is no joke. I'm associated with at least two explosions. One was in the mid-late 70's, we came out of a cafe one Friday night just in time to see someone start their car and blow the oil pan open from fuel in the crankcase.

I drained 3 Gallons of Gas/Oil from it. Pulled the plugs and fogged the cylinders with oil. That had to take washing the cylinders to the next level. The guy had told me the carb was messed up and gas was running out the side of it.

Looks fine to me.. Lets take it out for a cruise.... Maybe hit the parts store to get a new PCV valve....

If that guy was responsible for that gas line hook up, I hope you asked him not to work on any more cars with out adult supervision!

Well that's an easy fix. Obviously the carb gaskets need replacing.
Possibly running a little bit rich. Change the jets at the same time as the gaskets.

I've jerry-rigged some real junk in my day, and I give that an 8 for creativity. Maybe even an 8.5

Wow! In the previous owner’s defense, he did have safety in mind, based on the hose clamp used on the fuel line!!!!

I had a guy do that to one of my rebuilds. Electric fuel pump to boot. Hydrolocked a hand built 360 that would break the tires loose and go sideways at 30 mph. He had to change the carb from a TQ. I was so disgusted I told him he was on his own.

He was running it in reverse rotation, for the environment. The dual pump sparky carb is probably the best invention Chrysler made, it’s why the oil industry killed those who where marketing it.
