Just broke my throttle cable on my second time trail. Does anyone make a better cable that's the same as a stock one? I believe that the one on my car is from a /6 because with the jegs bracket and a single plane intake, the v8 one was to short.

Thanks, just ordered one. Due to the 3-4 week delivery time I will have to buy just a off the shelf one till it arrives

The 1 thing that gets me,is the end that get clamp down is not long enough, hence not much adjustment to be had, does any one know if 1 is available out there.sorry for the high jack

Does lokar make a direct replacement?
Not a direct but cut to fit and works very well. And very flexible to route easy. They even have a kickdown cable too if you wanted them to match.

PittsburghRacer offered me basically the same cable here at the track. It didn't look like I could get it to work with the jegs throttle bracket because it pinches around the cable. It a manual valve body so no kickdown.

I have a Pioneer CA-8417. Probably a V-8 application and it's what I have on my 360 Dart Sport with a Strip Dominator intake, 1" spacer & Holley carb on one of the factory throttle cable brackets.

It's about 19" long overall and has about 2 1/2" of travel. If I remember correctly, there is enough room on the bracket tube to clamp it, but there may be different OEM brackets and I don't know which I am using.

I reinforced my cable by brazing a coat hanger, bent in a long "U", around the clip on the tip and back to the metal tube behind it.

If I'm reading right, your problem is that the Jeg's bracket clamps on the plastic part of the cable instead of the metal sheath? I think I'd get rid of the Jeg's bracket. You can get a reproduction stock four barrel bracket for $33 that should work with stock or aftermarket intake. Also, they are easily modified to put the clamp where you need it.

Also, AR Engineering has small block throttle brackets for extra tall intakes.

No it clamps on the metal part of the cable. I actually really like the jegs bracket, the cable let me down right at the very end where it goes into the "u" part that goes on the stud on the carb. So basically the cable broke right at the crimped on ball.
There's no shame for it, I have races this car for 5 years and who know what before I got it.

Is it not adjusted correctly? Long setting the sheath cant be good for the the carb levers.

True you probably would need their bracket that these fit into. Well at the part before the adjuster nuts are the steel braided line has an aluminum piece that slides into the adjuster housing then the end on the card slide locks on and just use the bolt on part and slide through one of the holes on the carb linkage.

I have used that style bracket several times with no issues, I think your problem is the shaft the cable hooks too looks really short, and you have a cable binding issue at the end.

So make it longer?

Yes where the cable hooks to on the carb.
