I found a set of pretty nice older and discontinued 1997 Hooker Super Comp 5116 painted headers. Part number is 5116 with date code of 03 97
A couple of small dings but nothing that would hinder flow.
Anyone ever installed these into their A body small block with auto on the column and manual steering?
Price is $ 150...and I'm considering snatching them up for my 340 72 Scamp.

Any thoughts ? or opinions ? How about the column shift automatic...any issues there?
Thanks

Summit has a picture of them. They are bent much like the Summit, Flowtec, Hedman, and most everybody else's long tube headers. I believe the center link has to go through two tubes on the driver's side. They hang down a bit more than the Godly TTIs or Dougs, but as long as your front end ain't in the weeds and you don't have bullshitty short tires on the front, they work just fine. I had similar on my 71 360 Dart years ago. Car has stock height tires on the front ans sat at stock ride height. I never scraped them not one single time on anything.

Thanks RustyRatRod, I appreciate the feedback...I checked Hookers installation PDF document. They say a column shift linkage modification will need to be done. (so what else is new?... nothing ever "fits" out of the box...lol) At this point, pretty sure I'll bring them home, considering new ones are about $700.
Thanks again

I sure would. They are nice. A few members run them with zero trouble. Now, I will say the only "problem" I had with mine was the torsion bars are REAL close to a couple of tubes and they rattled against the tubes when the engine was running. I put it on a lift and gently pried the tubes away from them and it was fine.

"Comps" are different than "super comps".

Comps are bent like most other brands that capture the steering center link and hang low.

Super comps are different and don't run under the steering.

The picture is reversed.
Super Comps on top. There is a slight difference in the tubes & collector lengths.

I have a NOS pair of super comps and im pretty sure the steering runs through them.

Yes the steering runs through them. I picked up that used set today for $150.00
I'm happy :) I'll post a picture if I remember tomorrow.

Heck yeah that's a good deal.

I had to go to the short version of the LF-1/PH-8A filter on my '72 Swinger. Other than that no interference issues. Would have been nice if Hooker had mentioned that the draglink had to go "through" the headers in the instructions . Get those ideas about running Purple Hornies off the collectors, not gonna happen .

I have the older Hooker Super Comps made for A Body that they no longer make. It looks like they make some now that are A,B,E, and whatever.
Anyway, they fit well and had to put one small ding have power steering but cable shifter. The driver side does hang down as steering goes through it. can upload pics when I find them

Anyone have info on these
I know SB
I believe A body
But can't find numbers or any info for what body style
1st gen.?
2nd gen. ?

I used to run them back in the day...

You have to break the center link to get them through and the one pipe hangs below the k-frame and will eventually get knocked around and bent as to reduce flow if you drive them on a daily driver on the street... That's why I stopped running them...

I'm sure you're probably right, but I don't see how. Look at their picture.

Between the two headers, Comp & Super Comp, I never noticed a difference in the tubes with the two laying side by side. Perhaps the collector is longer? IDK

If I remember correctly, the super comps had all equal length tubes and the comps had some variation in tube length...

The comps were more for street and the super comps were for racing...

I have to be honest and tell you I only have had the B/E body super comps. Tubes are close together but not equal. Excellent header for the small block. The fit great.

Super are supposed to be balanced same length tubes and larger size.
I have the Supers been on car since 2004 bought 4 or 5 years before but are A body part the Challenger I bought few years before were not the same part number
