Is anyone else "touchy" about their Mopar? (long rant...)

-
At least once a week, I have some idiot cross the double yellow line to pass me. I'm running at 5 over the speed limit. Talk about an urge to make a left turn, at that time.

I never understood that mentality. It takes just ask much energy to be negative as it does to be positive. The negativity spreads like the plague. He should just be happy people are into the old cars still.

I'm building my car to make me happy, not for someone else's approval. It's got some rough spots but I built it and am still in the process of building it as time and money allow. I see a lot of new mustangs and hellcats at shows, I get it they are probably the owners pride and joy. I can go to the dealers lot and see the same thing. The cars that always get my attention though are the ones I know someone has put the effort into building themselves instead of just buying it.

I hit the aggre button , anyone can buy something , ''dont impress me much !''-------<Shinia Twain lol

Well he was a jerk and you said what most of us would have said.

Every Saturday there is a car gathering at a local coffee shop. The guys bring their classics and new Hi-po cars. However all of the classic cars are high dollar builds. One of the guys asked me to bring mine which is a driver quality. Reluctantly I went a couple of times but the arrogance of most of the owners turned me off. They have more money in their paint jobs than I have in my whole car. lol. I did have a few spectators really interested in my car which was a surprise but the car owners had no interest in my car at all. So I stopped wasting my time hanging out there. I have a few Mopar buddies that I hang out with now instead.

I took my 66 Valiant "low dollar drag car", to a 2 day Mopar show, a few years ago. On Saturday, the other entries in the class do the voting. My car is far from a showcar, it is just different, as a nitroused slant six drag car. On Sunday, one of the other guys, asked me if I picked up my trophy. Was I surprised. I asked why I got an award, and was told anyone can spend money to have a showcar, but my car is what "hotrodding is all about". Got 3rd place in the modified "A" body class.
That award meant more to me, then if I had won 1st place in the "judged" show on Sunday.

I didn't read through all the posts but I like ratty shitbox cars. I tend to gravitate towards the cars that look driven. Generally their owners know every detail and have worked on every inch of the car, gets driven rain or shine.

To the OP.....................**** that guy hahahaha.

I'd be curious how many of those high dollar paintjobs were done by the owners, or anything on the cars for that matter. That would be my point of pride.... Built, not bought....

I know guys that pay for everything and are very knowledgeable and have really nice cars AND are super cool....they just dont have the time or drive to do it themselves....that said....

My second "A body" was a 65 lemans (yes I know, a ponti-knocker) but my story is as follows....(love the digging up of an ol thread especially since it was dug by the OP)

I was in Bend OR at the 'Tiger Run' and the schedule was ...Early guys got there on Wed and there was bench racing...Thurs night was drags out on the Butte....Fri night was the titty bar....Sat night more street drags....and Sun we went to 1/8 mile in Madras to back up all the previous **** talking. Well on one of the nights either bench racing night or pre street drags, I had my hood off and granted there was nothing special about my car. It was a 455 with a Doug nash 4+1 crash box, 12 bolt spool, and 100 shot of N02. Rattle can in my driveway. tempest grill and stripped of weight. One of the 'nice fellers' strolled by and commented on my 'christmas tree' looking engine compartment. It absolutely was. wires everywhere. It was my second build and kind of really my first as I sold a real GTO not wanting to cut it up, so I got the shitbox instead. Well short version.....I squeezed him second round on Sun.

I dont participate in mopar shows or much of any car shows these days for this reason... more dickhead mopar guys than there are good ones around here. If it weren't for this site... I would have assumed all were like that. I've met really great people through this site. They know who they are, and some might not know it.. but I think they're top notch as well.
It's sometimes easy to spot a jerk stick mopar guy...they never wants help other than the tricks and secrets of course and he wants to do it all by themself. They dont waive when you do while their in their mopar and you're in something other than.. they never want to race unless you're in a slower non mopar .. and they only drive to the store or for a burger...then right back home they go.
I followed behind a road runner one time that went by on the 101 into Carlsbad one time .. he happened to go where I was going in my valiant.... he basically tried ignoring me on the way there when I pulled up next to him... so I blew his ******* doors off.. he arrives at the same liquor store i was at for ice on the way to the beach ... I say 'nice car' and smile... he acts like my exhaust tainted his car from dusting him off a few blocks back... then goes on how rare it is...
Keep in mind he pulls into a spot on the right straight in.. while the left are cars parked horizontally....A kid comes out the store, jumps into his ranger.. and proceeds to back right into the guys roadrunner as hes semi copping an attitude with me.. bam!.

He flips out threatens the kid... but it's all just animation... hes a ******* talker... kid just stands there like "heres my insurance fk head, what?"
What an embarrassment!! Lmao it'd been funny if the car actually blew up and the guy lit on fire running around in circles.

Used to be a skateboard company called "no friends". Haha yep

I might drive my half primer half AMD black junk to the show/cruise but I don't park it where anyone would confuse it with a participant. That saves a lot of grief.

The first and last time I worked on my car with the garage open an old dude from the neighborhood wandered in and started picking my car apart. The car wasn't even really that bad, it just wasn't up to his standards. I don't remember exactly how it went down but I know it ended with me telling him to get out of my garage.

I have never in all my years taken a car to a car show, but I enjoy going ever so often, usually once in 3-4 years. I always seem to find a cool dude with a 4, door tri five chevy or such to visit with. A REAL car guy, with his family, no ego,no attitude just a real car guy. It could be the same in a more door Mopar BUT I have never seen one there!!!!!:poke::wtf::thankyou:

what "hotrodding is all about".
I'm with you Charrlie ! Old school all the way.Leave the computers and techno crap for the youngsters.
I sold off my Hemi car and drag car and kept my old hooptee. People thought I was nuts.I have more fun with my beater than I ever did with high dollar stuff. For the guys that want a perfect car that's great. Just not for me anymore.

Many moons ago "car shows" were at the burger joints or DQ at night after school or on the weekends where we would hang out, look over each other's cars and any attitudes were exhibited on the back roads after the race. Put up or shut up as it were.

Well, I guess, I'm one of those "show car guys", except I drive the crap out of mine. When its on a trailer, it's because its broke! I don't feel the need to aplogize (sp) for having a "nice car" and I'll smooze with anyone who wants to talk. I'm just at home with an unfinished or low buck car guy as I am with the high dollar guys. I don't care for "rat rods" that are unsafe but other than that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. At the latter stage of my life, I'm fortunate enough to have a "show car". So I ask this of you, don't be too quick to put down the high buck car guy until you talk to the driver, because he (me) just might be a "regular" guy. And yeah, I put my pants on the same way you all do, one leg at a time.
You can find me anywhere between Redding and the bay area in Ca, sometimes farther south, wave as you go by.

Ya bring what ya got... why would anyone waste wind doggin' someone else's ride? We all started somewhere and have wildly differing expectations. If you are an adult and have not figured this out by now there is not much hope for you. I toss people who disparage what others have intentionally done with their rides in the same group. I might think... "would not do that to mine".. TO MYSELF! but as far as I am concerned you should Burger King your own car... have it your way.

Was talking to a guy at a show Friday who had a 55 Ford F-100 with an old school 392 Hemi in it. Said he had a chebby tree fiddy in it but people gave him grief. I asked why he cared what they thought? Tellem to go buy their own gorram truck... lol.

Straight from the barn to the cruise in last week. People were all over it. Not everybody is a jerk, the high dollar guys were just as intrigued as the lay folks. It garnered the most interest out of all the cars, and it was still on the trailer. Hasn’t been started since 2007!

cosgig. This one has been sitting for almost 50 years. It was being moved from one garage to another.
1767 miles.2008 was the last time I saw it going to it's new resting place. Nope the guy won't sell or ever do anything with it....Bet it would turn some heads at a show.

My buddy and I are taking this to the Hemming's Great Race pitstop in Ohio today. It's actually my youngest son's car, but he has to work today. Thought it would be fun to get the old bomber out for this event.

I've had a couple "encounters" with Metric Challenger owners. Mostly, it seems to be about parking... Seems I shouldn't park in the same row.

One guy came over to me to give me some grief about where I was parked (next to an old friend's new Challenger) and started saying something and then he asked if I knew who I was parked next to... I said "yea, about 40 years, why?". He turned to his friend and said "Oh, I guess he knows him"... and then I think he realized that he was being a jerk so he started saying that my car was nice. (I had my '65 Formula S) It was really forced by him though and not sincere. I said "thanks" and let it go. Then he said "you should put a HellCat engine in it" I'd had about enough and said "that's not going to happen... I like women". In respect for him, he was smart enough to get the the insult and walked away.

I like it, but I don’t like that it’s not being loved by someone who appreciates it. Bring it to me, I’ll give it all the love it deserves.

OP, you just may be a little short fused with all you have going on in life. i went back to finish a degree while working full time,it takes alot out of you...you weren't in a mood to let things slide is all. Imagine all the times you took some smart *** comment from someone and let it roll off your back, that particular day you just werent into it...thing is people get away with it because we let them, you were right to tell the guy to piss off...
