I was on another site & they were talking about what colors that the pinch welds were. Now i have been doing restoration work for some time. A B E bodys barracudas, challengers, gtxs, darts, dusters, just to name a few. I have never found any of them with different colored pinch welds other than body color. The only ones i have done were a challenger t/a & a aar cuda that had the pinch welds black. Other than the T/As & AARs has anyone seen the pinch welds a different color other than body color from the factory ?

Yes, seen them on various Mopars. One pops into mind was a Butterscotch original paint 71 Barracuda Conv (not a 'Cuda) with black on pinch weld.

I think many cars have blacked out, it's like having black behind grilles or black around wheel in wheel well. it's done for looks.

I'll search for survivor pics...

But this is a 69 Barracuda Conv in B7 dark blue I think shows some. Not a survivor in any terms. But I see black on pinch weld next to fender flange. Not great example.

Need to find light colored survivor A-body...

Here's a 69 Road Runner. Not survivor.

Interesting thanks

There's a Omaha orange 68 Barracuda original paint down in San Diego, and a Yellow 71 Dart 318 local that was in Hemmings. Both original paint fairly strong survivor cars. Wonder what they look like in the pinch weld.

I'm going to look at my 68 Barracuda now. I have the rocker spear and gill molding package that gets silver below the spear molding. Wonder if there is black under or on top of that? -Edit. No black. Car was originally RR1 dark burgundy and still has it on the pinchweld without any black under or on top of it.

Well the pinch weld on my ‘74 Duster is definitely not black, appears to be the same exact “Golden Fawn” color as the rest of the car.

Both of my ‘71 GT’s have a black pinch weld. But, part of the GT package was that lower molding and blackout, so it doesn’t really say anything about a car that didn’t have that lower molding. Here’s the EL5 ‘71 GT
