Purchase the '65 Valiant Signet convertible 13 or 14 years ago now, and it still sits waiting for some attention. It could not even be moved around the yard a few months ago, when I found the brake pedal hit the floorboard and the master cylinder was empty.

So I performed a fairly complete brake job recently and last night greased the front end before putting the tires/wheels back on and dropped the vehicle back down off the jack stands.

This morning, I primed the carb, added almost a full gallon of water to the radiator, and fired the old gal up. After idling for about two minutes, I smelled gasoline. I soon spotted the fuel pump dripping gas out of the pump body seams (I think).

Spent the rest of the day shopping around town for a fuel pump. It's a special order and should arrive at the store tomorrow. We will see. These cars just love to rot away everywhere when neglected for too long.

They were meant to be driven!

Sorry for your pain.

I got lucky, my dad's dart only sat 4 years in a garage and fired right up

Any pictures?

Locally that pump is in stock for under $20 last I checked. Autozone/Oreilly's. Hopefully similar price for you. And hopefully didn't leak into the crankcase!!
