Getting closer for 9’s

Congrats !!! there are quite a few guys running 10.00s at my local track because they don't want to deal with the requirements needed to run in the 9's. My track is pretty strict as per NHRA and insurance requirements if a person exceeds E.T.s of which the car is legal for they will be warned. My car is setup to run 11.50s for the class I run , at a non points /nostalgia race recently I was dialed 11.46 and wasn't wearing my fire jacket and was warned about it. Being a " regular " they let me make the run but I put the jacket on next round. Just an FYI: Snell 2010 helmets are no longer acceptable in NHRA competition , Snell 2015 and 2020 are acceptable / required. I had to replace my 2010 with a 2020 to race this year.
So you had to replace a perfectly safe, suitable, protective device, MERELY because it was timed out, and nhra "has a rule".
Sounds a little like the seat belts that are perfectly safe at 730 days, and dangerous and illegal after 731.
I have had lots of equipment on my cars that theoretically "timed out" that was never looked at by any tech inspector....... but they always look at belts and helmets, so they can MAKE you buy new for no reason..... other than "the rule".
Is it any wonder guys purposely don't run nines?
