Agreed. So nhra supports this scam to enrich seat belt makers for a much wider victim base than just nine second racers, they can victimize any body that "by rule" needs helmets or belts....
My point in avoiding nines is to avoid the other garbage rules that come with running nines.

agree. You can go 11.55 with a 50 year old lap belt the car came with, but 11.49 you need new ones( that were made better) every two years.
The helmet certification lasts much longer, so can’t see complaining about that. Same with fire jackets, you can use them forever. But the belts…..stupid!
