I will be repairing my 70 Dart hood hinges soon.i was thinking of a couple of ways to do it. The simplest way would be to take some front end Alignment shims and place them between hinge arm and the spring bracket and tack weld them or JB Weld them.
Or, i could cut off the pin that holds the assembly together, use a bolt with sandwiched teflon washers, and a lock nut to put it together.
Anyone have a better ideia.

would you know what Willie would charge for this rebuild?

Call him.
He's easy-going and will let you know the procedure.
I paid 275 last year, for two, they came back beautiful, but he has different levels of restoration.

the geometry is wrong enough to slightly raise the corner of the hood
Your hood might not be aligned properly. I thought that I had the same problem on my 69 cuda and lived with the problem for years. I ended up selling the car and while I was waiting for it to be picked up I played with it and got it adjusted properly. I kept trying to adjust the rear bolt and finally decided to adjust the front bolt and that fixed the issue.

I spent hours one day tryiing everything I could , the amount of the hood sticking up is negilible but enough to bug me.

Dana, why do you question taking the "slop" out of the hood hinges. I've cleaned mine up and got new push washers to mount them, but they are pretty floppy. Is it by design or wear?

I was asking what the root cause is for wanting to "take the slop out"

Which we found out was a hood alignment problem. Could be the hinge or it could be the adjustment or it could be the fender alignment.

Not questioning wanting to tighten things up after 50 to 60 years of use and wear.

I get it. I'm going to do mine while I have them off.

While I was doing some trunk hinge repair.

I had the welder weld some nice fitting tubing inside the hinge tube to act as a bearing surface instead of the two sides of the hinge tube.

The he's had become elongated after 54 years. OEM should have done it that way.
