Can anyone tell me a good part number for a rear wheel stud for a 67 Barracuda 8 3/4 w/Sure Grip? I see alot of 1/2's but its a 7/16 if its a small 4 BC...If not a part number then maybe the knurl diameter..Im looking for a 1/2 longer stud or a 3" stud I can cut down to fit my closed nuts. Circumstances dictate a 1/2 spacer so I need a longer stud. Doesnt matter if its a LH or RH to me. Thanks.

Uh, 7/16 doesnt help...:-(

its getting late sorry. i dont think they make the "stock" knurl long studs anymore. ran into that about 6 months ago on a project at the shop. they were a mopar PN and they stopped making them. you could have the axles drilled and tapped for 1/2" threaded...

Ugh, no thanks! Machine shops take my money far too often for this stuff. Ha! Are screw in studs even legal past tech?

haha. you may just want to look into doctor diff axles. i think he has some in both SBP and LBP threaded...

Have you checked Rock Auto.
Here's a link. http://www.rockauto.com/
Type in lug stud in their search line.

TRied it...
That site is full of wrong stuff. Type in 68 Barracuda 340 rear wheel stud and it calls out a 1/2 -20... WTF?

I am in the exakt same situation as the OP. Did a search and found this thread and bring back to life. I need a longer 7/16 stud. Anyone know where I can find it?

If you knock out a current stud and give us a measurement of the knurl (width, not length) that would help.
Shoebox chevies use 7/16 studs (1955-57), might be a place to look. I have some 3" long studs for a 57, but they are two hundred miles away, so I cant tell if they would work.

I will do that. Thanks.

I thought a shoebox Chevy was a 62-67 Chevy 2? The "tri-fives" ( I loath that name too) were called this in 55-57 sales brochures buy I never heard an owner call his '56 a "tri-five". Shoebox was also reffered to early 50 Fords. Whatever, this ain't Mopar so I'll drop it.

Did you ever find a longer stud?

Ok, thanks. I might have to rethink this setup. This is the nuts snugged down.

You're right, I have heard the 62-67 Chevy IIs called that. But being a owner of a couple 55s, and a couple 57s, they are what I think of when I hear "shoebox".
To tell you the truth, I think I would look for the right knurl size, and if I ended up with 1/2x20x 3" studs, I'd just get new lugs to go with, and drill out the drums.

That speedway site also shows some moroso's at .560 knurl.
so found .480 (unlikely) and .560 .
Bottom line? I'd knock out a stud, measure it, and scour dorman's site, and see what I could find.

Is that our studs? So .480 knurl is spec? 7/16 is .4375 so maybe .480 is correct? If we pound out the studs are we gonna F up the knurl. Ie. swedged studs?

Heres what I pressed out of my old DS axle. Another member needed the Lefts so they are gone. I never did measure the knurl though. The rears were not swedged....
