I had a tuning related boo-boo on my engine and after just 700 miles had to tear it down to nothing and start over. I have the rings and main bearings from that engine that look to be in good shape. I have the rings grouped together and numbered by piston position. They are .030 overbore size. The mains were kept together with tops and bottoms and also numbered for position. The mains are standard size. The rings for sure are Hastings, the mains are Federal Mogul IIRC.

Are you broke and need to clean up the bottom end of your slant? Just pay the shipping and these parts are yours. I think they will fit in a small USPS flat rate box. If not, for sure they will fit in a medium size. I will separate these if you only want one half. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Mods, if I need photos for a free ad, let me know and I'll get some.

So just to clarify these are the piston rings that made it 700 miles because as I recall you were running pig rich? And these are the main bearings that may have spun one bearing because you lubricated the outside of the bearing as well as the inside?...

The rings were determined to be serviceable by the MS. The main bearings did NOT spin, it was two of the rod bearings that did so. I said it was POSSIBLE the outsides of the bearings were lubed but I don't know for sure and they were not harmed. Did you miss the part that these are F-R-E-E? They are not new, but they are not junk either. Furthermore, what do you care? I can't see you being a slant guy ever.

Oh yeah, did I mention they are F-R-E-E? For a dead-dog broke person needing some help getting an engine going again these might helpful.

Yes, post photos please.

Here you go. The mains are lined up 1-4 from L-R.

huh
I never heard it was bad to lube backs of bearings, every one I slide out is wet both sides.... I've dipped them in a pan of oil before, before sliding them in on assembly, I have never had a problem with it.

Agree, when the main or rod cap is toqued the pressure of the mating ends of the bearing in the cap press on the ends of the bearing in the rod or main bridge and lock each other in place. Any excess oil or lube on the back side of the shell would simply escape out the sides. Some folks think the bearing lock notches hold the bearing in place to prevent it from spinning. No so, the notches are there to properly orient a bearing to an oil hole. It’s the pressure on the mating ends of the bearing shells that hold the bearing in place.

I was cleaning up the shop and ran into these again. Still here and still free!
