Bad accident at work....again

-
I didn’t work for Massey. I worked for Joy. I went underground at a lot of mines in the Tri State. Consol, Eastern Associated, Quarto, Kentucky Carbon…..

I used to live down in Pike county and new a lot of folks that got screwed by all the big guys.

The company sent 4 of us down there for a week. Turned out to be 12 weeks. We did warranty work on their longwall. We stayed in Pikeville and the mine was in Phelps, 2 hour round trip. Pike County = Dry county. Our driver loaded up on beer in West Virginia. First time I had moonshine.

Pike county was moist when I was there. You could buy anything inside city limits besides on Sundays. But yea, we would drive over to Williamson WV on Sundays.

There was an accident at work tonight it was bad. A guy got his hand crushed in between two giant chrome rollers he will probably loose his hand. To make it worse this is the 4th time in 8 weeks this has happened. This is potentially the 4th amputee in 2 months. This is bad. I'm really worried when I left this morning they were people talking about osha shutting the doors and all kinds of stuff. I really hate it for the 4 guys that lost their hands I really do but I can't imagine 375 people loosing their jobs. When was was in the punch out line the site manager came thru and he asked us is it true about the guy and his hand? We were like yes. And the look on his face was absolutely terrifying. This might get bad!
I've read some of this and it sounds like your work place needs a major overhaul in your safety department and possibly management, I can't believe that osha hasn't shut down the company and or the insurance company. Where I worked for 27 years you could get fired for not blowing the horn on a forklift.

So… my first time underground. North American Coal, Quarto #7 Mine, Powhatan Point, Ohio. The mines usually did maintenance work on weekends. A couple of us from Joy went to do welding work on their longwall. When we were done after 12 or 16 hours, 19 of us piled on a mine transport car that MSHA said can ride 4 people max.
A couple minutes into the ride someone yells CHICKEN. Everyone shut their headlamps off and the transport headlights. So we’re hauling *** thru total darkness, seemed like 100 mph. Guys are sitting on the handrails, roof is inches from their heads, even less where belt conveyors cross at 90 degrees.
That was fun.

Oh, this is a really terrible trend. If you're talking about the fact that there have been as many cases over the past decades as there have been in the last month, then I can tell you that you should probably think about changing the head who is responsible for safety at your production. In order for him to adjust the work of your workshop and solve many issues that arise if the injury has already occurred. You can explore more using the website After a Work Injury, Do I Have to Use My Vacation Time?. Good luck to you and take care of yourself!

Do you have to report back to China on a regular basis, or do they monitor all your fakeass posts directly?

Well, since this thread has once again found it's way back to the front page perhaps @dartfreak75 can give us an update.... Hopefully he's found a better work environment or at least the situation there has improved dramatically...

I remember taking the work glove off my right hand and saying to myself "Come on fingers. Be there. Be there". The ride to the ER with my boss in his company truck was the worst part of the ordeal. 12 miles of 2 lane road, complete with farm tractors, material hauling trucks, and unskilled farm worker drivers. "The bleeding has stopped. I'll make it OK. You can slow down." ER doctor saying "I can't believe they're still attached and no broken bones."
Not really a work accident, but I was working on a 5 million dollar home. I started seeing black spots and a real bad feeling of unease so I texted this for emergency room nurse that I did a kitchen for she said you probably about to stroke out, I was 35. Anyhow my buddies driving me to the ER she told me to go to which was clear across town I looked over at him (he's a Mopar guy too) I asked him if he had a driver's license he said yeah I said well use the f****** thing!
