For one there is no reason to go the LS route as it will 100% be the toughest way to go as ZERO will go in without fabrication and modification and to make matters worse it's an early A which has minimal to no aftermarket support and in my opinion it's just wrong and since I am entitled to my opinion I will stand beside it and not support it just the same as you think I am wrong for not being supportive of what he wants to do.
I never said you were wrong, don't put words in my mouth. Done with you.

Hey all

I made a post to this forum about a month ago in search of help/advice. Normally when I speak to other car enthusiasts, they’re pretty happy to find that a younger person like myself is into these older cars, and they’re glad I’m doing my best to keep them on the road. I did not see this type of response on this forum, and it made me feel ashamed to even be part of the Mopar community.

Since I’m currently engineless and can’t get hold of a working slant six, I was tossing around the idea of LS swapping my Valiant, and wanted to know if anyone had any leads on a potential swap kit. I had no expectations of there being such a kit, but thought I’d ask anyway. Apart from a few helpful replies from members such as @RustyRatRod and others, I was mainly met with loads of angry replies and just plain bullying. To quote one member’s reply: “You know the sound of the cork coming out of the wine bottle, do you suppose a guy here’s that after he pulls his head out of his butt after realizing he should ask such dumbass questions on a Mopar forum?” Other replies consisted of belittling my abilities and questioning my intelligence.

Being part of a community is about supporting others in the community. Sure some people may have differing opinions, but in the end we all want the same thing: to see Mopars on the road rather than rotting away in a field or being crushed in a junkyard. I’d rather have that no matter what engine is powering it. I find it incredibly sad and pathetic that upon seeking advice from other enthusiasts, I was met with hatred and an inability to accept others’ ideas. The replies I received discouraged me from even wanting to get my car back on the road. I have never seen this much unsupportive behavior towards another member from any part of the car community, or any other non-automotive community for that matter. I am expecting this post to receive a few similar replies as my previous one. To those of you who comment things like this: you know who you are, be better.

Sorry you're deciding to be butt hurt instead of leaning into the problem and figure it out. Sounds to me like...

1. You're a young guy with limited resources. I'm not young but I aint rich so I get the desire to do what people say works and get something in that car with some power for what think is an easy swap. All the LS swap the world types talk that way but it's simply not true. is it rocket science? No, of course not, but it's not trivial either. Most of the Swa the world types couldn't do it without a kit that someone else put together.

2. You like MoPars, don't we all. They are different. You picked one that's a bit more challenging than most due to it's tiny engine bay. Ask me how I know... lol/

3. Please for the love of all that is holy, drop the community crap and stop trying to guilt people into helping.

4. If you're purpose for an LS swap is cheap power because you've been told by some chuckle it's easy, just stop. Take a breath, slow down, regroup and move forward. Someone posted a thread about a GIII into a 63 dart. That's your road map if you must do a swap.

Important to note, in a car like yours that had a /6, you're going to need to do something abo the center link regardless. Good luck.

Good luck

Doesn't help his cause either when he comes out and say's he is ashamed of a certain "community" just because everybody doesn't fall all over themselves to help in his debacle
Agree.
I'm not proud but I'm certainly not ashamed to be a member of this forum or a part of some greater or smaller community of enthusiast classic a-body/mopar owners. Its not a team or military unit or somehting like that, although it is for some and that's fine too. I'm here for the subject matter.

The reasons for not doing that swap have been stated directly and in between. Maybe that wasnt in the initial thread. I don't know, nor do I care. Its irrational to expect everyone on a public forum is a trained and sensitive educator and will craft a carefully worded post.

@JGizmo

Buh Bye

Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which the abuser attempts to sow self-doubt and confusion in their victim's mind. Typically, gaslighters are seeking to gain power and control over the other person, by distorting reality and forcing them to question their own judgment and intuition.

LS engines aren't magical. They don't make any more horsepower than any other modern day pushrod engine.

Hey, I think an LS is a great engine. I have an LS3 in my 51 GMC and it pulls so hard in 2nd that my foot has a really hard time staying on the gas sometimes. But yeah there are hardcore Mopar, Chevy, Ford, you name it guys but most of them are just kidding around. The ones that are serious have issues in my opinion. I love cars, period. For me its about keeping the car on the road and out of the scrap pile.
Good luck on the build.

Pulls so hard I have a hard time keeping my foot on the gas pedal, LOL, maybe you need a booster seat? LOL

LOL I'm 6'-2". No it probably has to do more with the fact the cab is so small I can't slide the seat back far enough for the foot to be in a natural position.

WE could have a bidirectional forum for AMCF+
All+Mopar+Chevy+Ford plus LOL
And yes, good luck on your build.

Why isn't there a laughing emoji? Too funny. AMC used parts from all kinds of cars and then there is the Delorean which I'm pretty sure used a Chevette steering column.

It's a damn good platform, you must admit. At least until they added AFV to it. To the OP ; NOBODY likes a whiner. Grow up, grow a pair, and build your damn car the way you want it. Of course you're going to catch crap about it, I would give you crap too. But, if you were serious, I would give you all the advice I could and would help you if you were close, as would a good percentage of guys on here. Why the hell do you care so much about the typings of a bunch of people you know nothing about ??? Quit being a baby or sell the Valiant. The car deserves better (I own one, also).

"Ashamed" is egdelord talk. It shows your age. It's your vehicle, and therefore it's your artistic expression. Do what you want with it. That's the American way. LS it. Ford it. Keep it MOPAR. No one cares. It's your time and money. Just do something.

But dont get all asshurt when people far more experienced question your logic when going against the grain. A lot of these guys have been turning wrenches before your parents were born. They've failed more times than you've succeeded. You'd be wise to listen to them. And if you still want to pursue the LS route, awesome! That's hot rodding man! Go do it and we'll support you.

The knowledge on this forum is what helped me build my car. I even made a good friend during my time here. Ashamed is not the right word. They just told you something you didn't want to hear

Geez, Imagine the butthurt if someone said to the OPs face "Chevy sucks..." but eh, thats the world I grew up in, back in the 80s,only people who were nuts built Mopars...it was a rough time to grow up. But I will say Mopar was alot cheaper to run back then....noone wanted them.

The OP responded in his original thread about using a 5 or 6 speed manual as well.
I did a Tremec 5 speed swap in my '70 Charger last year. The kit along with other related expenses totaled over $7000. If this guy has limited resources (money) then a 3 speed automatic is his only option.

yeah that's part of the "problem" with the LS crowd. They talk big until there is no kit.

LS it. Toyota it. Do whatever to make it a hot rod.

I'm already sick of seeing 'ASHAMED" on the new posts window. Don't really want to comment, but why not.

Grow some nuts.
What is wrong with the new generations. Stop with the emotions. This is where men hang out. Go play some video games with the girls if you can't handle some **** talk.

"ashamed"

There are always /6's available. Not finding it, that's your lack of looking. And a /6 will cost you thousand and thousands less than ls swapping or swapping to anything else. Even swapping to a mopar v8 is going to cost you thousands more than just finding a /6.

Here is where the ashamed crowd hangs out. It has a raptor engine! I'm sure it will beat many of the mopars on fabo on the street.
