In their early A body? Looking at adding one to my 66.

What do you hope to gain?

Well, just exploring different options. I am going to have the rad converted to 3 core. Running a 180 Stat so as far as out current temps go it’s been averaging 105. Temp gauge runs in the 200 area bot in town and freeway driving. I may put a high flow 160 degree stat on to see if it lowers the temps

I don't have an early A, but I run clutch fans on most of my classics.

LOL Ironracer
Was the disagree about:
  1. I really do have an early A ??? or....
  2. I really don't run clutch fans on my classics .....
:poke::lol:

I need to check and post a picture. I know I fought with one on my 70 Swinger as far as clearance.

Nope, stock fan.

I might try one on my 64 IF I had the room. I JUST put a solid non symmetrical five blade fan on and she sounds like a single prop airplane going down the road but MAN does that thing move some air!

What is wrong with your current setup?

Should not need to if the cooling system is functioning correctly

Running a 180 Stat so as far as out current temps go it’s been averaging 105.

105 outside air temp and a 180 deg thermostat, 200 not an issue unless it keeps raising

Temp gauge runs in the 200 area bot in town and freeway driving.
With 105 deg outside air temp that is normal
I may put a high flow 160 degree stat on to see if it lowers the temps
The thermostat only sets the low temp, the cooling system, outside air temp, air flow and load on the engine dictate the running temp.

I had a parts car with a 273, AC and no power steering- perfect.
It had a shroud, a seven blade fan with a clutch.
Only one I’ve ever seen.
I haven’t gotten it on my car yet.

200 is nowhere near a problem!!!!!! if it stays around there RUN IT

I run a 6 blade 17” fan with a clutch in my stock metal fan shroud on my original 22” radiator. I had a couple of the 6 blade 17” fans, so I milled the center out to accept the clutch and assembled a couple for some friends that liked my setup!
