Being raised in hot and humid S W Ga. I always wondered why the big meal of the day was at lunch (dinner). All country types did this. Come in from the field, eat a big hot meal, and drank sweet tea by the gallon! Supper was light, sandwich, a cool kind of salad.
I gave up sweat tea years ago and can't stand unsweet tea, I just drink water or splurge with a little Gator aide sometimes.
