Window tint (not an A)

Its funny how sometimes when I approach something I have never done, I watch the you tube and read the things......then I remember I have access to the greatest wealth of knowledge at my fingertips of people who have had the real life experience!!
So.....
Heidi and I are cruising to WI for family reunion and want to keep the puppers and ourselves as comfortable as possible so I am tinting the rear 5 windows of the '89 volvo 245 pretty dark and the drivers/passenger window a smidge. I have seen the videos and have some tools and a kit. I do not have a board to plaster the stuff on to cut it but all the vids say you can use the window as long as you use a stainless blade. Seems like clean the window, clean the window, clean the window, clean the door and keep things wet are the theme. Oh Gurus of the FABO What say you????
