What is the absolutely correct blue engine paint color for a 74 Duster?

For comparison, here are a couple photos of the slant six in my grandfathers 71 Satellite wagon. As it happens it's parked right in front of my hangar just now. This car hasn't been driven since the late eighties and it's been in the family since new, so i can guarantee it's never been repainted. Obviously this engine's paint has seen better days, but this looks nothing like the blue seen on the 360 valve cover above. Not sure what to make of that, but there it is.

That does look like original engine paint, not a repaint job.

I don't know how close it resembles the true factory color but I've been very happy with the POR 15 engine and manifold paint. Brushed it on everything, even the valve cover. You can see some brush strokes on the valve cover but it did a pretty good job of self leveling so they aren't really noticeable unless you're up close. Would spray the valve cover if I wanted to do a bang up job.

The exhaust manifold paint is really nice. Has yet to burn off or discolor at all in the first couple thousand miles.

Here’s a picture of my slant six. I don’t have a color code for you, but the blue paint they used should have been the same from ‘73 onward.

Orange engines seem to make more power and look cooler doing it
