Day two (Saturday)

man some pleasant weather moved in and the time slip reflected it. Terrible reaction time probably caused by a splitting headache. Probably allergies so hopefully they clear up before first round. I could feel by the 60 foot that we were going quicker. When it hurts your back hold on.

Maybe you weren’t on your game completely but I dont call that suckin. That’s still doing pretty good. Even though you got beat.

It’s a tough game I’ll tell you. Track temps were 127 degrees at one point but we don’t know that unless they announce during the day. On the one run above I had to gamble that I was going to run under so I whomped it twice against a car I saw purging nitrous. I was right as I would have ran a 6.10 (1.27 sixty foot) ending my day right there. These guys double enter, double buy back if needed so I’m just a minnow in the sea. But I still enjoy it so here we are. Many of these guys have sponsors but I insist on running on my wallet.

As long as you still enjoy it, keep making laps. You’re only in need of a few 00x lights to bring home a trophy.

Mopar racer Nick Bowman is kicking butt. He took second in no box last night and is still double entry at five cars today. That kids a machine.

Cortisone shots scheduled for Monday morning. Thank goodness. Lol. My knees are killing me. I may listen to some of the second race tonight a 175.00 64 car box no box then it’s bedtime. Man a lot of people pulled out and are racing tomorrow’s race.

Day 3

it’s over, it’s been fun, driver needs work, etc. But it’s been fun. It’s a tough game but I still love it and thank God that I can still make it through a three day race. It’s a no time trial day but many racers bought a second entry so they could get a time trial. The weather being an out of town we is a little tougher as you have little feedback to go by. I guessed the ET pretty close thanks to a good car. It was to close at the finish to try games so it was peddle to the metal for 670 feet. Not even spending the 60.00 to buyback and try again after another piss poor light when I know I can do better, but didn’t. All I can do is try to keep working on getting healthy and building my endurance and concentration better.

That 60ft is awesome. I can't wait to get back out there and start racing again.

Thx for posting. You kept us all entertained and rooting for you!!

Hot, sweaty, tired and ready for my 85 mile tow home but while going around on my quad saying goodbye to everyone I saw a trailer that wrecked on the way here and heard part of the story. If I don’t post up about it tonight or tomorrow please remind me. It will be in the race section probably named trailer safety.

Very good John, I'm glad you had a good time.
But, when are we going to be in the money round. :poke:lol

Maybe never except for some round money. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I’m not a very good driver. My long range plans were for my son Matt to take over most of the driving but we had a few issues we couldn’t get past. When we did he’s no longer in the picture because he lives in Ohio now, close to his girlfriend. If you never raced a big money weekend race you wouldn’t understand but this isn’t your mopar type race where you race, drink beer, socialize, and go home. Here you race for three days. It’s an endurance race from 8am till whenever. I still think when I had coronavirus back in November 22 that it caused me to lose some focus plus the year off definitely hit me physically and endurance. But I still like trying and it’s still fun. If I had to win money I would have quit years ago. I think I did get another Edelbrock head porting job over the weekend. That helps financially.

Glad you made it home safe, and no big problems, so all and all it was a success.

I would say yes. I pride myself as an engine builder not an assembler so yes I’m very happy. Not many can say they both build engines and race too. Usually it’s one or the other. Don’t get me wrong I love driving and work on getting better but going fast on a budget is my true love.

Well I jumped on unhooking the motorhome and parking it and hooking my truck to the car trailer so I could park the trailer down my hill. Next up a race this Saturday at Keystone. I use my truck for the one day events. I wanted to get everything done before my Cortisone shots this afternoon. Mission accomplished.

haha….
It will be getting everything around to go racing, and putting it all back away afterwords, that will ultimately end my racing career.
At 66( soon to be 67) I haven’t been cheated, but getting ready gets to be less and less fun. I now do it in stages…that helps
