the thing about this tool, there’s no crank pulley/ harmonic balancer, so how would it work for cars about to start up?

The problem with injecting oil into the fittings on the side of the oil filter boss is it doesn't actually spin the oil pump, and if you are building a new motor you want to know the oil pump is good before you put the motor in the car and fire it up.
In my particular case we discovered the brand new oil pump didn't work and we replaced it with one that did work and we were able to verify that and save ourselves hours of installing a motor then pulling it out again to change out the oil pump, as well as avoiding the thousands of dollars of damage that could have happened starting that motor with zero oil pressure.
