AlV 69 Dodge GTS project
What up FABO FAM, I want to give an update on my recent escapades. Per my previous post started a project to install FItech EFI and install Classic auto air under hood kit ne compressor brackets receiver and hoses to the factory evaporator and controls.
This is a bit long but should be entertaining and informative.
I'll start with the classic auto air install. The kit came and it was very well put together with all the brackets, bushings, hoses adapters and receiver. I picked up a receiver bracket and hold down clams from @rainy. The installation is straight forward, easy and in my opinion looks real nice.
The Fitech install went well. Initially I bought the fuel commander but ultimately returned it in favor of a new tank with FI pump and sending unit. Grounded directly to the chassis and to a ground wire I ran from the battery to the trunk.
I bent a new 3/8 return line using the supply line as a template and then ran them in tandem.
I mounted the fuel filter on the inside frame top of the wheel well. everything looks clean.
Soldered in the Fitech harnesses and fuse box with relays.
Installed fuel pressure gauges and started the set up process
Started with putting the balancer at 10 BTDC.
Set the reductor center on the pickup
Advanced the adjustable rotor 10 deg in advance of the post.
Got it to start but boy something did NOT sound right. To be honest, I had been noticing something was up the No2 cylinder the last couple of drives but it all fired up and ran pretty good with the carb. I did notice what I thought to be a miss so I put it on the list of things to look at.
Well after a couple of tries I could not get it to idle right. I had fuel pressure 60PSI, set the initial timing to 10 deg. and I had spark (checked with a tester). But uh oh the exhaust was warm at all the cylinders but No2.
I pulled the valve covers and B**M found this.
I found two pieces but have to believe the rest fell in. Will find out more when I pull the pan.
