I have a buddy who does really good detail work. Offered me a killer deal on Ceramic Coating. Here are a couple of pics of my car now. He isn’t even half way done. Next step is paint correction. Ceramic won’t go on until sometime tomorrow. I’d be happy as hell with her right now! Im really excited to see the finished product!

I can’t believe it. That is halfway done. He did the scoops separately and they almost look new. Worth it!

So I'm not hip at all and this is the second time I've seen Ceramic coating on FABO. What is it? What do you get out of it?

Yes I could ask Dr. Google, but I'd rather hear it from those getting it done to their classic cars.

Most dealers offer it as a paint protection add on when selling new cars. Now detailers do it as well. It is supposed to keep some form of protection to the surface of the paint from environmental fall out, bird ****... whatever. I do know that as an automotive painter I strip every car with a heavy duty wax and grease remover before I sand them. If you get one in with the ceramic coating on it the clear will not sand. My car I just dry sanded with 1500 3000k wet 5k wet buffed and polished. Mine was like they sprayed it and never wet sanded and buffed it. Orange peel, sand scratch swelling and dirt nibs. Looks great now.

I’m not the guy doing it, but here’s what my buddy told me. First they wash and strip all the old wax off. After that they clay bar the whole car and buff it all out. Then they do Paint correction and get all the impurities out. The paint has to be like glass before they put the ceramic on it. Here’s my car now. There is No Wax on this car. The ceramic hadn’t been put on it yet. This is just buffed out clean paint

Here’s how she turned out. The paint is like glass! Absolutely happy with the results. He used Onyx Products Ceramic. My car never looked better!

Wow looks really nice but I have one question.
How do you maintain the ceramic coat?
Can you use wax?

You have to hand wash your car with a Ph neutral soap and dry with a chamois. I think you can use spray detailer after that. It’s supposed to be a “forever wax”. I will be using my dust brush on it daily

Thanks I wish I had ph neutral water here but it’s hard water and leaves spots

I think the soap changes the Ph in your water. I’m not an expert. It’s Onyx Coating on my car. Water here is perfect for growing tomatoes. Don’t know what the Ph is
