The engine was assembled when I spun the oil pump. I would think that once you prime it you should be okay. If the pickup tube is full of oil and the surfaces have a coating on them from being primed I think I'll be okay. I noticed I was turning that drill slower than a starter motor turns and it was getting good oil pressure and it happened immediately. If a person wants to take the extra step and prime it again with a pump up sprayer when it's back in the car I think that would be good insurance though.
