The cost of concrete

in florida monolithic 12¨x 12¨ square footer to support carolina carport style building with fiberglass reinforced 24´x 30´x 4¨ pad $4000-$5000 tops

Do you have to worry about drainage? snow load? A slab can start to slide off hills. Retaining wall on the downslope with proper drainage, ie perforated pipe buried along the base of the retaining wall can be of use to make sure some underground river doesnt eff you. Maybe something to consider.

I had a 24x36 slab with footings, finish smooth, 4' rockery x 36' long (retains driveway on one side) and a **** ton of 5/8 minus, all work and excavation for 13K-14K in 2005ish. I had another quote at the time from a one/two man show for the same work for 17K and he was astonished that the other guy could do it for that cheap. dos cents.

I’ve contacted 4 companies over the past 2 weeks and no one has made it out to the site to give me an estimate

Typical. Try to do what I did. I have some more I want to add on, for parking and whatnot in front of the shop and another pad beside it for a floor for the leanto. I've gotten to know a few of the drivers fairly well. Well enough I have their business cards. When I'm ready, I'm going to call when I have everything framed up. I'm going to have them come by after a large pour and pour in what they have left over. Just going to leave the last piece of the form out so we can size it to "whatever" they have left, then put an expansion joint there. One piece at a time and it will cost hardly nothing. I know one guy so good, he's told me a 12 pack of beer will buy whatever he has left, whether it's one yard or five. Once their pour is finished, they have to dispose of it somehow. I'm glad to help um with "that".

Its slightly sloped but not too terrible. Needs to be leveled though. Luckily the water drains through a different path in the yard so I should be ok there

Yeah. Wish I was close with someone in the business. Would probably make this process a lot easier

Well, the exact price of concrete is a pretty vague question, since it depends a lot on certain circumstances. After working with the guys from Masonry Odessa TX | Concrete Contractors Odessa Texas, I've got a quite good understanding of finding good prices of concrete per yard. I find that about 100$ is the perfect price for concrete per cubic yard. If you need to find out exactly how much concrete you need, you just have to know that one cubic yard of concrete can cover about a 4-inch thick slab with an 80-square-foot area or a 5-inch thick slab with a 60-square-foot area.

another great thread revived!!! (3 yrs old)

I do love concrete though:rolleyes:

Decent rule of thumb is whatever the concrete costs, plan on that again for the total.

1yd of concrete ill cover around 81 sq/ft at 4" thick. Call the crete place and get the price per yard and do the math. I paid 8400 2 years ago for my 36x48 shop, 4" thick with 3 cross beams. 1 yard was around $102 at that time. Rebar was around 300.
