Chryslers at Carlisle. Who's goin and your spots?

-
Got a chance to speak with Nick from Nick’s Garage briefly. He was surrounded by people all day. He couldn’t have been nicer.

Somehow, spending 9 hours walking around a fairground in the summer was easier 10 years ago. :( Holy cow, I'm sore.

Happened by Stephens Performance today (Big AMD seller) front and back bumpers for my 70 Dart - NEW - were $550 each

Today they had a seminar that featured Herb McCandless, Buddy Martin and the 2 guys that spearheaded all those great Plymouth ads from 1968 to mid 70s. Great stories!!!

Whoever said that the vending spaces were sold out was lying. Rows K and L were 90 percent empty with trucks parked on both sides. There had to be a decrease in sellers this year. Also surprised that it was not announced that Nick's garage was there

Great event as usual.
Got a chance to personally meet Ray (Halifaxhops) and Mitch (Moparmitch).
Its difficult to connect with everyone.
Sorry Dave (Davescuda), didnt get to see you and Tim (Mopar Tim) you were parked a row behind me, I kept an eye out but didnt see you either.
Its difficult, missed alot of Fabo guys and vendors too.
Will try again next year.

Three weeks ago I called Carlisle for spots! They only had a handful of car corral spots open they told me! No vender and no car show spots. I think the guys are buying the spots just to keep their trucks close by! Same **** in the spring show. Yeah they sold all the spots ! But I guess that's all that matters to them is the money for the spot! It's a shame to see all the opne vending spots!

Good point. I didnt think of spots being bought to park. Car corral was confusing. I couldn't tell what cars were for sale on the outside . I dont think I saw 12 total and they were spread out in the "for sale" area
Anyone know why they went to a rolling burnout as opposed to the regular? Trying something new maybe?

They bought those spaces just as parking. I know, I had to do the same thing.
It seems like an issue, but in my case, it was a good thing.
I had 10x's more product than normal and that meant that a lot of people left happy, which makes me happy!
I had the best Carlisle weekend I've ever had.

very good weekend
2nd best for me
i meant to see more of you guys thursday but after we set up i was pretty wore out
looking forward to next year

Heard this from a few people: is it true that the corral was half the size it had been in prior years?

Corral was light but i spoke to quite a few people willing to sell, everywhere else.

Question.
I was on the Carlisle site and signing up for next year, there's a drop down menu about "club affiliation", noticed FABO as one of the choices. I didnt notice last year, but
What difference would that make on placement in the showfield?
Would we all be in a group?
Joe

On another note,

I went to the Syracuse Nationals on Fri, Carlisle on Sat. Yeah, I wont do that again!!!

This doesn't change where you can put your car.
It does add members to the club registration which in the long run gets a bigger tent for the club.

Never knew there was a club tent. Lol
But I did see a FBBO tent.

Yes, The FBBO tent was a combined FxBO effort spearheaded by member @HSorman.
Check out the thread. "Chryslers at Carlisle 2022 tent activities and invitation"
I stopped by Fri and Sat, Great bunch of Guys,
Won 4th place on club attendance
Which might/should lead to a larger tent next year
Many thanks to the guys that made this happen. :thankyou:
Until next year

Right - the club affiliation has no effect on what group you chose to show your car in.

That’s it..I believe they combine both groups which gets the required amount up to qualify for the tent. Swingn’
FCBO and FEBO are supposed to use the combined tent also. I think they all register to the same fbbo tent.

I'm not sure there is a FABO tent. If a club has less than 25 registrants then you must pay for the tent if you want one. I paid for the FBBO tent the first few years until we got more than 25 members. Now Carlisle pays for it.

Carlisle has refused to allow FABO and FBBO registered people to combine for one tent, so it is important to remember that they do NOT combine the groups. Only those registered as FBBO count towards the tent.

This year, I reached out to the other groups to try and get everyone to register as FBBO. In practice, the FBBO tent this year was the FxBO tent, although it was named and tracked by Carlisle as FBBO. That's the only way we can do it.
The benefit for us all by combining is we get a bigger tent as the group size increases. We can also pool resources so we can get food cheaper by cooking at the tent, plus enjoy each other's company over a cold drink. We had beer, soda and water at the tent all Friday and Saturday for any FxBO members.

Hopefully next year we can continue to improve the usage and benefit of the tent for us all. For those that did register this year as "FBBO", a big thank you for attending. I'm not sure yet if we had enough people register this year to get us a bigger tent next year, but we'll keep chipping away at it!

I think if someone takes charge and spreads the word, it has to get bigger. Unless they're comfortable with their current group of course.
Most FABO guys I spoke to had no knowledge of any club tents.
(Alot of FABO guys are also FBBO members).
I already registered for next year and put FABO as a club affiliate.

May I humbly suggest you change it and make it FBBO instead?

There is no FABO tent. So unless FABO folks decide to pay for one next year, listing your club affiliation as FABO helps no one. On the other hand, the FBBO tent ("club") was the fourth largest at Carlisle this year. That is thanks to some FABO, FCBO and FEBO folks who registered as FBBO (along with a lot of FBBO folks as well). So if you list it as FBBO, you can help grow the size of the tent where all FxBO folks can hang out and have some good times.

Just got back from the Mopar Rebellion pre-party at the Expo Center - WHAT A HOOT!!! Tons of great cars of all stripes, what a great way to start the weekend. Some of my favorites were the 63 Plymouth B-body that drove in with a BDS blown second generation hemi and a Dana out back. The license plate frame in back said "Back in 9 seconds, gone hunting Rats". Next in line was a right hand drive Australian 63 Valiant with a truck bed out back (guess my 84 Rampage was a Johnny come lately).
The black blown Hemi belongs to FBBO member HEMI-ITIS hailing from Long Island. It is a legit 9 second street legal car.
He is known affectionately as "The Hebrew Hammer"
It's been quite a while since I've posted here on FABO. It's the forum I first discovered when restoring my Duster (long gone), but am a regular on FBBO for many years.
Spread the word further about registering under FBBO for next year! The giveaways at the FBBO tent were awesome this year, $500 in tools, free gold memberships, Chrysler branded merchandise, T- shirts, etc. It was great. Several non FBBO members won some, and the food was excellent. We need a bigger tent!
