What’s the attraction?

Oh here's a Toad or three! It doesn't get any uglier/cooler than this!

The right wheel and tire combo can make any car look good !
Well almost. As the saying goes, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

In the collector car world, it is a revolving door! Whats hot today is not tomorrow! It sorta comes and goes, and comes again!
Wheels tire size, color of car, lastest fads.
Like said early Cudas can look badass with right size wheels/tire combo.
As people mature, tastes can change too.

The last/most recent A-Body I bought is gold, has a Vinyl Top and A/C - and I like all three things.

20 years ago these were three absolute turn-downs for me for any car...

There's a difference between "fun to drive" and a "pleasure to drive". I'm with you, I like having a automatic with p/s and a/c. My 66 is a 4 speed. Just for fun!

My 66 (Valiant) is also a 4-speed, no PS, no PB - and I don't drive it very often nowadays...but I like it still.

So, (and correct me if Im wrong) I seem to recall that, the Barracuda was released or came out Before the Mustang by about 6 weeks or two months. I'm not 100% sure. It was a direct competitor in the pony car market, and that 273 "Commando" I believe was a hot little engine in this lightweight body. I remember a neighbor had a 66 Barracuda in 1983 or 84, and it attracted attention, everyone in the neighborhood would walk up to it and check it out. That's when I first heard "273" I hadn't even known Mopar had a smaller V-8 than the 318. I was 15 years old then. MOPAR they say were designed by engineers, not designers. This is a big reason for their styling, it was unique to them, GM had better looking cars some may say. Mopars are in a class of their own when it comes to styling. During that era it must have been nice to have choices, today everything looks the same or similar, and people don't care... its so generic. I think this is why some of us till play around with these old cars. They are works of art, from a bygone era. Its ok if you dont like the early Barracuda,to each his own,but there is something else from back then that you might like I'm sure. When you think about the mid 60s what are some of the best looking cars? Corvette, 64/5 Chevelle, I think Mopar hit on a good one with the 66/7 Dodge Coronet and Plymouth Sattelite, 64 Galaxie? Although I think the 63 galaxie is a better looking car than the 64 but still, the styling didnt start hitting home for all makes untill 66- up IMO.

Mine is a little bit more on the 'luxury side':

...but a lot of people like the design of the 65 Barracuda more....

I would drive the wheels off that!

My 65 Sport Fury is my favorite all time. Just pure sex on wheels IMO. The 64 Fury is pretty nice as well. Then all the 65-67 B body cars and in particular the Plymouths. Add in some other brands the 64-67 Fairlanes, 65 Buick Wildcat and Riveria, 66-67 Old Cutlass/442, 66 Mercury Monterey and Marauder. etc, etc.

You can tell I have a thing for mid 60's cars and especially big boxy ones. Some may think they're ugly but not me!

30 years ago I didn't consider owning a early A. However, time has changed me, and now I like them. I can say the same about '71-74 Chargers/RR's. But now I like them as well. And here is the kicker..... Cordoba's/Magnum's were weren't on my "consider" list. But now I own a Magnum and think it's nice looking. I have a C body list I like as well !!! I guess the less you see of something, the more you appreciate it. Some day I might just buy me an early A.

I’ve never been a fan of the 64-66 barracuda, I remember these cars growing up and thought they were butt ugly
I'm completely opposite. I saw an early Barracuda with big tires and air shocks when I was in high school and figured it was the most awesome car ever. I got a 273 Commando car in or about 1975 and still have it today. Picture is somewhere in the 1990's or so??, still on the street. Big tires and rake of course. My cousin's wife told him once it was an ugly car. I never understood that line of thinking. :)
