sale coming up and they have several welders. this is a miller mc 300vs. is it any good? does not appear to have been abused. tia. rick w.

All Miller welders are "good." But is it what you want? And what does it require for power. Bear in mind some of the larger welders can be THREE PHASE power--unless maybe your shop is equipped.

You might check with Miller "can you get parts"

And that is a HUGE big heavy *** welder It likely weighs 400 lbs or more

^^I don't think this is the same unit^^

I think this "Deltaweld 300" is likely the more modern replacement,

EDIT found it

SHIPPING WEIGHT 515 lbs !!!!!!! LOL

Bear in mind as big and heavy as this is, it is MIG ONLY. No stick, no TIG, and no AC

You sure saved him
I made that mistake once---on a rooftop AC I was replacing the compressor. This was in a TERRIBLE place, a particle board plant, where they basically glue sawdust together. The plant was under a giant pretty much open air metal shed, HUGE, with little "buildings" inside for various purposes. This was the test lab where they checked the glue, etc. On top was a flat "roof" just plywood, WITH ABOUT A FOOT OF SAWDUST accumulated. You had to push it out of your way, and have an employee as a "fire watch" if you even thought about lighting a torch

This was when I had very little HVAC experience. It was hot, dusty, dirty, awful place, and the compressor had little room above it to read the tag welded to the can. I showed up with the single phase replacement and realized it was 3 phase, and had to "unbraze" the thing and pull it back out.

Stay away from older inverter machines unless you get it for next to nothing
Any transformer machine is a better option as long as it isn't beat to **** and the price is right
You should be able to score a Lincoln or Miller for under a grand
Many are single phase and can be run on 220 but bear in mind the welding output might be lower
Yes, they are big and very heavy
Presently im looking a inverter 160 Miller, enough DC output to run 3/32 7018 for small jobs
The thing weighs like 25 lbs
Im also looking at a Company called Everlast, they seem to have a good rep and I know a guy who bought one
The only thing is id feel like im committing adultery if I didnt buy Miller or Lincoln
