Well, I get lost all the time. I am resto modding my Dart Swinger and did this. I love it!

I'm planning on an Android Auto unit for my Barracuda, but I'm not sure where it will be going. Glovebox is one choice, but there's a guy who had plans for a billet dash bezel with the double din opening where the heater controls are.

The way I figure it, there's nothing wrong with any mod that: makes you drive it more, or makes it faster/quicker.
If adding electronics fits either of those categories then it can only be considered an improvement.

This is a single DIN and they took the ashtray out to install it. I’m putting a center console in, so I won’t miss the ashtray. Don’t smoke anymore anyway. Having Amazon Music is really cool!

Had a Kenwood in it before, so it had a single DIN mount in it already. The screen on this adjusts but it’s always there. I looked at the hide away screens but they are smaller and prone to breaking. I didn’t put it in. I had an alarm and electric door locks installed at the same time. Really cool upgrade. Margeaux drives a lot better too, she loves it!

used the space for the ashtray... now thats a new one! I like it. So when it is not in use does your particular model retract and go into the ash tray area? is it easily detachable so it can be stored out of site when parking in public?

I ain't never been lost. I've been away bit discombobulated for a few days. But I ain't never been lost.

The stereo doesn’t retract. I’ve heard those ones break. I can’t take it out, but since all cars have touchscreens now I’m gonna bet it’s pretty safe. I also have an alarm, lol

i like it as long as i can take it out and put the ashtray back very quickly.

Exactly my idea. Plan to someday use a tablet and built a receiver mount in the ash tray in such a way that I can slip the tablet mount out and close the ash tray and make it look stock. But it's still just a someday idea. But seeing something similar makes it seem more realistic that I first thought.

This is a Pioneer unit. It runs off the antenna for regular radio, you can get Sirius radio, and I use Apple ands Amazon music through my phone. This doesn’t come out, but it’s really nice. I can’t see wanting to take it out

And I thought I was gettin' pretty techie when I bought one of these so I could charge my phone and watch the volts.:lol:

Let me find the box for mine. It was stupid expensive, but it has all the modern conveniences. I have JBL Concert Speakers in the back and Fosgate 5 1/2’s in the doors. No power amp. It is more than loud enough. People always freak when they see Nav in a 72 Dart! This is the stereo I got. The reviews are awesome

I think it looks great! but then again if you haven't seen what I'm putting in my car, you don't know what kind of crazy **** I'm cooking up as well:

Regarding radio choices, I went with the Pioneer DMH-WC5700NEX, because you get a remote mounted screen...a super handy option if you're looking to get crazy with the install and don't have a lot of depth to play with
