For what you say you want to do with it, that should work. Wish I was home I could post a pic of the accessories I have for mine.
It's basically a piece that slides over the dovetail that screws in to a 3/8 cylinder that can mount in a chuck, and tightens onto the dovetail where you want.
Can work in a mill or drill press.
The little lever can go + or -.
