Will the factory 2 barrel cable work with a 4 barrel? Also is there any brackets that I would need to change to do the swap correctly?

OK-LOL!

It’s possible to use 2bbl. linkage. @318willrun IIRC, did a video on it.
IMO, and what I have done is use a Lokar cable set up to make it easy. Simple to install and use.

You can get Lokar cables for the throttle and trans kick down.

I like it since I like to tinker. The cables offer an easy way to connect and disconnect while allowing the swap of carbs and/or intakes to test without issues. The only intake that would cause a problem is a tunnel ram due to the extreme height.

You’ll need the crab bracket as well. This is not made clear when you purchase the cable alone.

Here it is on a 340. It’s just the throttle cable, bracket and springs. The trans is a manual shifting 904, no kick down cable needed.

The instructions are easy to follow. Read first!
You can view the instructions @ summit racing.

All the 2bb stuff works with very little effort. Been there and done it more than I wish to remember.

The 318 2bbl stuff did NOT work on my 68 Barracuda; NONE of it.
Eddie headed 71 vintage 360, with
1) the factory 340 TQ-intake and TQ
2) a Weiand Excelerator and lil HolleyVS, also same intake with an AVS
3) the Airgap and 750DP

Nor did the 2bbl cable work with the factory bracket, nor with the hi-riser aftermarket adjustable bracket.
BTW, the slanty cable did not work either. I borrowed the 4bbl cable off a 340 car, and away I went.

Yes you can make the 2bbl stuff work, but that was not your question.

I'm sure you have
I even have the factory 2bbl stuff (all of it) running the dual quads (under hood) on my 318 Duster..... :)
  • Just know there is a more "professional" way... so to speak. You can get the correct factory 4bbl linkages and all, or go all lokar... just letting you know it is NOT necessary.

I like the stock stuff and or making the stock stuff work when I'm not using the stock stuff I like the bouchillin performance cable setup.

However...in 2022...they are way too expensive for their function. Wow...

For what it's worth you can take a kickdown cable off of Magnum truck and the lever and spring setup from the transmission take the bracket as well off the passenger side and you will cut some of that off or modify it whatever way to fit/attach to your existing throttle bracket. Holley sells the boobies to snap onto as well.

4 bbl manifold and carb places the throttle connection stud farther forward than a 2 bbl. You can deal with the throttle bracket by using a 340/360 bracket or modifying a 2bbl bracket. Transmission kickdown lever is most easily addressed by an Edelbrock extension that screws onto the threads of the original kickdown rod and then you screw the slotted kickdown end piece into the extender (or cut and weld two rods to move it farther forward). 2bbl throttle cable works fine...

With everyone's input, the swap will be easy as apple pie

You can make a simple extension for the throttle cable and keep the 2 barrel bracket.

You can also extend the kickdown with a length of all-thread and a barrel nut.

I'm grateful for all of the good ideas and information that you all have given me on this.

I used Lokar throttle & "kickdown" cables too, for the Edelbrock LD4B intake and Edelbrock 1406 600cfm carburetor on my car about 5 years ago.

They worked so well, that my engine builder/mechanic re-used them when he rebuilt my engine last winter.
