Looking at a 65 Polara.......

What area known issue areas ?

What to look for and what to look out for?

Thanks

I don't know. I can't see it.

Not the most popular vehicle, just sayin.... I'd say since they were offered with a 426 wedge and a 4-speed is a possibility, that would
pump up the cool factor in my eyes anyway. Like any Mopar, get under it, really under it and look for rust.... everything else is no-bigs, IMO.... there's not a lot of aftermarket for those, especially in the body and trim dept.

If you like it, buy it! Easy to work on, and you can modify it to the Sky! A different body style, and not many left. If it's in good shape, and the price is right, I say go for it!

All 65 Polaras have big blocks (383 2-barrel standard). Front looks a little too much like a 61 Lincoln (blame Elwood Engle for that), but overall can be a nice looking car. Mechanically, you can do most anything with it. I pulled this image off the interwebs:

PS: as noted above, NOT an early A body. Back in the day, A bodies were my preferred size. C bodies were boats. Now that I'm older than dirt and many pounds heavier than I used to be, they keep looking better and better to me.

That's a looker! My next (and may be last) Mopar will be a 64 Dodge. Polara or 440 model. I would take a 330 but most of those are on the drag strip.

To the OP, look the car over and don't buy a rust bucket unless you want a project and can do the repairs. Remember, not too many repop parts for these cars so what you need comes from other cars.

There is a bigblock 4sp 500 near me just sitting in the sun with flat tires. Car was redone years ago then sold to current owner . Has a set of max wedge exhaust manifolds in the trunk .
Was a nice car ...urgh

If I wanted 65 C body, I would look for a survivor type car, one that has been for sale long enough the seller found out it is not the same $ as a 68 Roadrunner or Charger. It is usually cheaper to buy the best car you can afford to work on.
If someone GIVES you a typical project needing everything, you will usually be upside down UNLESS YOU can do ALL the work on it. Even then, many cars will NEVER be worth the investment in it. Yea, I know, everyone that buys heir "dream" project car, will ever sell it,,,ever!!! Life sometimes gets n the way.
Yea I know, "its a hobby and hobbies cost my. Yea right.

Yea, all those big $ cars selling on BJ were down over a few long weekends, with their beer drinking buddies, out of junk parts bought at Mopar Nats!!!!:poke::poke:

My BIL has a 65 ragtop w/383 TF. Cool project that is unique. He's got a 440 to build for it. Should be a blast.

Be well

There's all sorts of unique parts on that C-body. Just about every body part is '65 only, as well as the door glass(s), dash parts, automatic transmission and shift cables, to name a few.

I actually think 65 Polaras are great looking cars . Clean lines and a balanced grill.
